OPTIMIZE EQUIPMENT button, why not?

OK, I really don't know if someone already brought this up, but I've been thinking lately and noticed the armory chest and your worn equipment can be really cumbersome to manage, specially when you have multiple classes with different levels which you end up having multiple equipment sets for.

Now, one thing that's present in almost every Final Fantasy game out there which would be really beneficial to this game, is the fabled OPTIMIZE EQUIPMENT button. You just press it, and you automatically wear the "best" gear you can wear from your inventory. Now, in FFXIV specifically, that could be configurable, you could choose 1 or 2 attributes you'd want to base that priority on (say, defense and vitality, or mind and piety). Then you woulnd't need to worry about mousing over every piece of chest you have in your armoury chest every time you level up a class to figure out if you/to what you want to change your worn gear. You could just hit the optmize button and the algorithm would exchange your gear. Then you could save your gear set, of course that doesn't mean we'd get rid of gear sets. It'd be just a tool to help us organize that kind of stuff.

You know... like you can in almost every Final Fantasy game there is.

most optimize are if the def is highest=best
BUT
in this
some times a weaker eq is better, it might have less def but it give you stats boosts that you needed
it better to look are the eq and pick you you think would be best for you

im sure SE programmers can develop algorthms to do this well, not just based on defense. But usually, higher defense on gear peieces ment for your class means its higher level, which means it gives more stats. I dont think ive ever seen a peice with lower defense giving higher main stats for your class. It all goes up in unison.

This is not always the case for DRG as they can wear leather or scale/light plate. However, there should be no concern if the optimize button simply selected the highest equippible iLVL gear you had. Not all items provide defense...

Not really needed, they are so few sets of gear at 50 it doesnt matter much. If you can't decide between your AF2 chest and lvl 60 green from AK, there might be a bigger issue. Oh, and gear before 50 is irrelevent, because it doesnt matter.

I would LOVE to have an Optimize button, especially if I had the option to define what "Optimize" meant. I currently have 10 or 11 (can't remember which) classes up and running and, even though they're all pretty much evenly leveled, it's still a PITA making sure each one is optimally dressed. But even if I couldn't define "optimize", it would still be faster to tweak an outfit than it currently is to go over each and every piece of gear individually.

I wholeheartedly support an Optimize option (key word, "option", for those who apparently enjoy mousing over every piece of gear).

Or just give every class their own armoury tab so it dose not get confussing....

Considering the incredible time-sink that simply going through all gear in my inventory ─for all slots─ is everytime I want to switch job (or, more often, level up), I would very much welcome an "optimize" button.

I can't count how many times I used sub-par gear simply because I missed one piece of equipment, especially considering it's impossible to keep it sorted since every switch will actually swap a piece with another (I'd like to at least have gear sorted by level/kind of stat). So I've given up on sorting gear manually and just go through all 25 slots x 13 slots (at worst) when I level up, if I wanna make sure I'm optimized. I takes way too long, so I just don't do it that often.

But I'd wager we'll get that feature from addons, not from the barebone client.
