Hi everyone, hopefully there is an answer for this.
I have 2 characters on one server and would like to be able to send my alt gear, fish, whatever, but I can't befriend him with my main because we aren't online at the same time.

There's no way to do it directly. You can hand them off to a friend and retrieve them when you get on alt.
No there isn't unfortunately. To add friends both would have to be on at the same time. The game won't allow the second alt to sign in as the first shows as signed in already.
I've already seen problems with this when my internet connection goes. Often I lose internet for a few minutes at a time and when the connection comes back I try to log in again to find it sees me as already logged in due the fact I didn't log out. The only solution I've found for that is to restart my computer.
So sorry it isn't going to work.
It is impossible to friend a character linked to the same Square Enix account as they both can't be online at the same time - a requirement of friending.
If you do not have someone you trust 100% with what can be very valuable items then I would suggest considering having two Square Enix accounts, the second using the bare bones subscription allowing only one character on the realm and use them as you can run two clients on a PC.
Ok then. Thank you both for responding.
I guess I feel that if I'm paying to be able to have more than one character on a server I should be able to share items between them.
Maybe once there's housing this will be addressed somehow?
In FFXI this only cost me an extra dollar. And since I'm a Mac person who plays on a PS3, it looks like I'm SOL for now.It is impossible to friend a character linked to the same Square Enix account as they both can't be online at the same time - a requirement of friending.

Maybe I shouldn't say this because SE seems to not want items exchanged between alts but if you're in a small free company, people probably don't visit the chest often. You could put an item from one character in the free company chest then switch to your alt and take the item back from the free company chest.
Yup, when I had to do this (move all those pesky 1.0 items that have no use, yet weren't auto-converted to gil), I just hit up my FC leader to give me chest access for ten minutes, offloaded all my items in and then logged in with my alt to pick them up.Maybe I shouldn't say this because SE seems to not want items exchanged between alts but if you're in a small free company, people probably don't visit the chest often. This is an awesome work-around!
Thank you!
Note that you can indeed befriend and trade between characters on the same Square-Enix account. You just can't do this between characters on the same service account. I have two service accounts under my Square-Enix account, and use a set of "mules" to store additional items on service account 2. It costs more per month, but it is worth it for my needs.
Edit: I just wanted to clarify the terminology before someone makes a new account, when all they have to do is add (and activate) a second service account in the Mog Station.
Edit 2: Sorry, I forgot this only works if at least one service account is for PC![]()
