Personally i wish they made it harder to get our relics

I think spending a lot of time to reach a goal in a MMO and finally obtaining said goal is WAY more rewarding than getting things instantly
I remember that time when my guild managed to get server first on Heroic Lich King 25man in WOW after spending about 500+ attempts on him prenerfs. The awesome experience of hearing everybody on Ventrilo going nuts and shouting YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH WOOOOOOOT OOOMG WE DID IT, was WAY more greater experience than the loot we received afterwards.
I hope I get similar experiences when my FC gets to clear Bahamuts raid and finally getting Relic +1 and AFs+1s etc. I dont care if it takes months, when we finally get it done, it will be worth it as I have a ton of fun goofing around with my friends in FC and LS![]()

I want there to be different kinds of goals. Like I want the journey to max level to take some time, but be really fun because there are a lot of short term small goals while leveling. After that I want there to be long term goals as well as short term goals so that while I do get "instant gratification" I still have larger things to work for instead of just wait for the next patch. I don't really ever want to have everything, because that is the moment I get bored and quit. That is why I dislike tiered progression only, because it only leaves people waiting for patches, there should be horizontal progression as well, meaning not everything is made useless each patch.
Your probably one of those people that doesnt work, is on welfare, and mooches off the government. Meh, instant gratification right?

It has nothing with not being able to distinguish games from real life but the MMO Genre is a competitive one. Who are you to tell people what they should and should not be competitive with? People have competitive eating for goodness sake, will you really tell them they cant distinguish the difference between snacking and having a meal? You can deduce all of that from one post about playing a video game? Here's my problem with the mindset I see most on these forums, you guys seem to have difficulty differentiating between a game and real life.
And the real sad thing is it is wholly possible to limit gratification while still creating a fun pleasurable experience to carry you from high point to high point. I'm all for things taking a while to get, but at least make the process for getting it varied or enjoyable.
Instant gratification is fine.
I like booking my laundry times and just having to appear at the right time to instantly do my laundry.
I like taking my car to places instead of waiting at a bus stop and then changing 2 times to reach my destination.
I like buying my lunch during weekdays instead of cooking it each prior evening.
I like buying my games, instead of programming them from the ground up.
In most cases it is better if you don't have to do a lot of extra work and waste time.

There is nothing wrong with instant gratification
I stopped reading at this.
To me, I think the title of the OP's thread is a bit misleading. It sounds to me more like they want things fixed in a timely manner. This relates more to good service imo, than instant gratification. The part where they mention running a dungeon 60 times is excessive, I mean 60 times? Either way instant gratification is wrong in all sorts of ways. It is honestly what is wrong with the younger generation(s) of society today. If you cannot get what you want right when you want it, you throw fits or quit which sets a path for quitting and failure a lot of times in other aspects of life. I live by the philosophy of "the greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph." Life is not fair btw, people do not care about other people. You are not a special snowflake, therefore, you will not always get what you want how you want it or when you want it. My advice, learn to cope with it, otherwise life for you will be miserable.

FFXIV:ARR coming to iOS and android soon!
