I second this. Use the Crystal Tools engine polygon shaving techniques you used with the armor to change the monster models depending on the incap.I agree... It is pretty straightforward.. yet I find myself explaining it all the time...
At the very least it will point people towards the page with the chart on it....
And yes.. incaps just need to be so much more visible... not talking about the message that you incapped... but the actual incap itself...
Maybe we should give examples like that of what you'd expect to see in an incap...
like
1. Crab shells should have, at the very least, cracks in them when you incap the shell
.
2. Ahriman can blink... When you incap their eye, it should stay closed
3. Drake tail should go bye bye when you incap it
Even Coblyns already have something like this in effect when the crystals get broken.

I bet they will have a big boss like that....What i mean is more allowing us to target a part of the Mob body not doing a action that does DMG to that type of body.
More of a team work 3players attack tail 2 attack horn and 1 is heal 1tank last person just there for back up. Allowing us to attack each part of his body or some part like horn,head,tail,leg,arm,body. Each part would have a HP bar but each part is just is overall HP at the end. Most ff have this for the end boss so this is why i ask maybe for dungeons or HNM fights.
Where you can actually target different parts as if they were different MOBs.... some Sephiroth/Jenova type fight.... cool
At first I liked the ideas of incaps but I am actually quite bored with the system. Not really sure it effects the mobs in a profound way and it should. Should you break its horns it should not be able to do certain attacks etc. If it is like that now it is unnoticeable. All you do is tank and spank and stand around the mob in 1 of the 4 cardinal directions and hit a certain ability and that is a real boring way to try and make the fight seem like it adds some element of strategy. Maybe if it was tweaked in certain ways and had a profound effect on the mob then I would appreciate the system again.
Like a MOB that had a special ability that could instantly wipe a party... and incapping say, "the head" is the only way to stop him from using this move, so thats the first priority when you enter the fight.... and once that is incapped, he is still super tough, just now he can't instant wipe the entire full partyAt first I liked the ideas of incaps but I am actually quite bored with the system. Thats a really good idea actually
Exactly. That is how it should have been applied and allow the boss that has multiple limbs to incap and each limb controls a certain move, but they could also add an soft rage for some mobs if you incap everything and lets them go nuts with a berserk type damage but takes greater damage for a small period of time. That way there is actually is strategy to the fights other than every single mob in the game be pure tank and spank.
I enjoyed the whole post but pretty much ^this. Anyone who's played Monster Hunter before should be extremely familiar with the system, it's really not complicated at all.
As you said the biggest thing they need to do is make the incaps more visible. You should be able to know the state of things by simply looking at the monster.
Until they give us visual representations of incapacitations, the system is still stupid.
Players should be able to get incapacitated also.
Like we should get broken legs and stuff and then other players have to run up to us and "fix" us.
This was in Beta, you could get your legs incap and you'd run slow. But I dont think they'd bring it back, feels very annoying.
