Arcell is correct the official web site did indeed display arrows that did have status effects on them. It however was changed
not too long after they announced they had got the game up to par to start charging. Elxia is correct that there was atleast one arrow they showed that had a different dmg type.

I want "blunt" arrows with a little fist at the tip

Oh wait... damage type means nothing in this game

    • Enfeebles the enemy
    • Prevents the enemy from using special abilities
    • Alters the materials that are obtainable after defeat (depends on the incapacitation)
You should start an FFXIV Myth Busters thread where you do nothing but destroy stupid myths people think up about this game. I love you for this post, and guarantee you transparency like this is superior to the old XI days where you had to craft under a tree facing south on fires day at 6:23am with new moon in order to succeed your HQ.

Thanks for dispelling that myth lol. So now that we've got your attention, are there plans to utilize the incapacitation system in a more meaningful way? As I've said before, this is an awesome system that's being underutilized. Even just the above 3 things can be implemented in creative ways to really get us caring about incapacitating monsters.

That's another thing we need back which could tie in with Incapacitation. Only piercing weapons can break armor/shells, only blunt weapons can break bones, only slashing weapons can cut things off, things like that. This would further add to the need for class/job diversity.

The offiicial site may have changed, but there are still other fansites that have since abandoned their FFXIV pages and they still have information and pictures from 2 years ago:

Yep, that's what I was talking about. It was part of the original plan. Not going to say whether or not it would work well since changing ammo mid-battle would be a pain.

2.0 will allow macros, items, and emotes to be on the action bar... so a couple arrow change spots on the action bar could probably work

That picture seems vaguely familiar now that I see it.

Aye, there were a lot of things on finalfantasyXIV.com that never actually made it in the game.

I remember the graphic you're talking about. It was on the archer page and listed about six different arrows and what they were most effective against.

Also there were lists of sample abilities that classes were supposed to get like Pugilist getting Steal.
