Couldn't Roll "Need" for Pair of Allagan Boots Of Healing when playing as a WHM

This is clearly a piece of gear for White mages, but the "Need" choice was darkened so I could only greed for the piece of gear. Someone else accidentally rolled greed for it as well so I wasn't able to get the loot. Can you not need for Allagan pieces of gear?

I Still don't understand why you aren't allowed to pass on an Item you lotted in case it was a mislot or you decide to pass for a friend. FFXI, a 11+ year old game has this feature. Is it really such a hard thing to implement?

    Regardless, Sorry to hear.

Only reason I'd know is that you already have the item. Other than that, unless they made it SCH only, then more that likely it was a bug.

It's because they have chosen to make the item untradeable totally. The way to fix this is to make it so that it gains the untradeable attribute upon leaving the dungeon/raid instance.

    Then the cheats would just get a group of computers/hacked accounts and do it --;

The problem I think is that the greed/need/pass button needs to work like this:
    (need) (greed) (pass)
{x} Always Greed if not needed {x} Always Pass if another player has selected Need

This leaves the players choice down to hitting Need or not.

At the dungeon exit there can be a loot trade option, in which one item can be traded for another dungeon drop item that has not been equipped.

because it's so hard to click on pass instead of greed already. the current system is fine seeing as how if you hit greed and another player hits need they still get first dibs. BTW, what would the hacked accounts do? if it was set to apply the untradeable attribute upon leaving the dungeon, they still could only vendor it, i highly doubt they will spend 15-30 minutes in a dungeon to get that loot when in that time they can farm mats worth much more.

    How would cheats abuse it?

If you're thinking of toon swapping after the kill then Blizzard has clearly shown how to handle it, maybe other games too, gear obtained from the instance can be traded among those entitled to it (meaning those in at the kill, or whatever other rule governs who gets to lot on when the chest is opened) for up to two hours afters.

This allows an easy correction of a genuine mistake without invoking GM processes (some games allow GM reports to be made to get items transferred) and is no more vulnerable to exploit than whatever rules determine which toons get to see the 'roll' dialog in the first place.

How many times have you hit greed just before someone goes "oh I want that" ? More to the point, how many times have you hit "Pass" and nobody claims the item. That's more annoying. As per the OP, and if a player plays different classes, sometimes you don't get a 'need' on an item you want.

Except that it's cross-server. Once the instance is exited, there's no trading. Right now there's no trading at any point during the instance either. My reference to this is where someone is multi-boxing, but maybe they have a brother/sister/roomie/girlfriend/boyfriend in the same room. If you hit greed or pass by accident and someone else gets it, you're stuck with the outcome. If it were possible to trade during the dungeon, it would just be slowed down as everyone trades things during it.

Other games, it's often the dungeon instance itself that is exploited. I don't know how many times people bring in extra characters because either the instance requires that many to start, or because the drop chances change depending on the number of players.

What I'd suggest is that there is no perfect solution. The current situation works unless the gear you want is for another class you play.

you need to understand how the gearing system works in this game (atleast with leveling) all of the gear that you share with Tank classes still MUST have your stats. Tank gear is determined mainly by the Physical and Magic Defense they give. If it is a high Defense item then it is a tank item EVEN if it does say your job on it. It works the same for tanks also, they're unable to roll need on gear that is low Physical and Magic Defense because it is a DPS item.

Confusing I know but once you understand it you'll be fine.
