I can't think of any good, modern MMO out there that limits the number of people in a zone with a hard cap. It's absurd and absolutely unnecessary. They need to implement a hard cap additional to prevent additional load after a certain threshold. Sure overflow instances could theoretically be added on top of such a system, whether they do or not isn't the point here. The point is that right now there is nothing at all to prevent all 3000-7000 people in a server from trying to enter a zone and crashing the world. And this has already more or less happened due to the fates. Therefore they from an infrastructure standpoint need this zone limit, right now. They can't not to do it. It is the only sane thing to do right now.
I was kinda hoping an inventory sort option would be part of this....I are disappoint.
Oh well, I'll remain hopeful as I know there are far more important things that need to be fixed first![]()
Simple solution would be to have Odin and Behemoth be instanced fights - then the cap could be on the instance, and not the zone.
Another option might be to have them pop in multiple locations at the same time in order to spread out the population - FFXI did this with some NMs.
I can't wait to not be able to zone into an area to do a quest because it's full!
Now give us dailies to make money.

I don't believe they'd want to make dungeons harder. It seems to me their philosophy has been to make it harder for there to be a gap between hardcore and casual as far as progress. Making the dungeons harder, would be going back on that. looking at them increasing tomestone drops, and increasing the cap, is clearly going with that philosophy. Also not to mention they've been trying to make things as casual as possible, except for content they add that is clearly meant for hardcore. I.E Coil.
The first month ran out, so they see a huge number of players that dropped out. now they're going to be forced to update in a timely fashion.
Not a solution, because the FATE system needs to work. We have Odin and Behemoth now, but we'll be getting Lightning and the crossover fates later on. They can't just all make those instances. They need to figure out how to get FATEs working to handle more people.Simple solution would be to have Odin and Behemoth be instanced fights - then the cap could be on the instance, and not the zone.

Actually, there is a hybrid solution, like with Chimera.
What you do is create a specific instance for Odin and Behemoth, where all the players that are in the immediate area are forced into this instance (even if they're DoL) and anyone approaching the instance are sent into the instance without a prompt.
All the fixes are great, keep up the good work!
And to those QQing about nerfing dungeons or that your botanist/miner is 50 and you worked so hard to get them there well...too bad so sad.
