Can't recover 1.0 account!

Hello everyone! I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the likelihood of my friend being able to recover his account. He played 1.0 towards the end and got dragoon to 50 in hopes of getting a head start before ARR launched. Sadly, for whatever reason, he decided to use a birthday other than his own for his account for security reasons and forgot what he had entered. Is there any way he could get around this and recover his account? Or is it simply lost forever?

His character name is Interim Kite and he played with me on the Balmung server if that helps.

Could someone please shed some light on our issue? If he can't recover his account I'm going to have to shell out another copy of the game for him to even remotely want to play again. =/

If rest of the account info is correct besides the birthday. He will have to use the phone and call SE for help. Having the CD-KEY for the old 1.0 version will help to confirm account ownership. They might ask for a copy of his ID as well to confirm he is the owner of the account.

As long he can confirm everything else besides the birthday. I don't think he should have problems to recover the account.

What 'security reasons' made him lie about a key item of data SE uses to validate a person owns the account? Date of Birth is a legal requirement for them to collect and so false information provided could in theory at least leave SE liable in some jurisdictions.

To be honest, unlike Haystack, I don't hold out much hope he'll get his account going again. SE aren't exactly the most forgiving MMO company around, as numerous FFXI players before now have discovered when trying to resurrect old accounts, and given the huge number of accounts being stolen I would imagine they're even less forgiving than ever.
