But you can buy a weapon and do it that way. You just can't save the gear set.

Unless they changed things from phase 3. You could certainly do it then.

Maybe I just phrased things poorly but you're not actually contradicting me. That's basically what I'm saying.

I'll test it tonight when I get home. I have a low-level character I can try it on.
Naberrie, that's actually incorrect - at the very start of the game until you've unlocked the class officially you cannot equip another class's weapon, even if it has a level 1 requirement, as you'll get an error that says something like 'unable to change class - requirements not met' or something.

1.0 characters who already had exp in classes when their characters were transferred into ARR could change class right at the start however (which is probably what you're referring to about 'phase 3'), but only to classes they already had exp in. If they hadn't leveled a certain class in 1.0 they couldn't switch to it until they did the level 10 class quest of whatever class they started ARR as and then unlocked the class at it's guild like a new player. New player characters however are different - the Armoury System is totally locked at the start and cannot change classes, which is what we're talking about.

This happened to me at the start of ARR, as my 1.0 character only had exp in GLA and CNJ, so I could only switch between those two classes at the start.

You're right. Just tried it. Until you've reached level 10 on your first class and unlocked the other via the Guild you can't equip the weapon to become the other class. I stand corrected. So either I'm just remembering phase 3 wrong or they changed things.

I thought I just saw a finger pointer app when I created my new character? Go check the moogle mail post in game and see if its there. I skipped it because I just use the maps for locating places

    Hello,
    (1) Is there some way to put in a way point to a location you want to go, and it show up on your map?

Other games have a way to do this but I can't find any way on this game. I'm looking for a way that puts a point on the map so I can head toward it. Like /way xx, yy

    (2) I'm having problems finding where I can get approval to begin harvesting/mining. I've read that I need to "join" the guild for the land. When I asked in the shout, a few people gave me a place where the guild is located. That town isn't on my map, nor can I find any info on how to locate this town.

    (3) I'm thinking of purchasing one of the strategy guides, hoping that end some of the frustration I'm feeling trying to play the game. Are there any good ones out there?

Which game did you come from, your info sounds familiar. RoM by chance? hmm.. but dont bother buying a guide. either ask us or google your question.

I was also new and my first MMO but learning quick. I think your best to just jump in and learn along the way. Also joining a free company is helpful. If you are on the Phoenix server there are many helpful players

Welcome to the game, feel free to ask about the things that you are having trouble with. The community is plenty with info that you do not need to buy a guide, plus there is an update patch coming soon that would make guides need updating. There also is in game help if you click the active help menu under the system menu "XIV" button in game or activate the active help popups. Follow the main scenario "!"quest icons with flame edges from the Adventurer Guild and it will put you on a good start if you continue to follow the quest icons and complete your duty list.

New player Guide is also in the Lodestone
