    Armoury System Mechanics

Since I've come from the traditional type of changing jobs types of games - reach a certain level then change job (Ragnarok Online etc..)

I was a bit confuse on how the Job/Class system here works so I do have a few questions:

-From what Ive gathered the max level for Classes is 30, is this correct?

-Let's say I've completed the requirements and changed to a Job, would I revert back to level 1 as that certain Job (Monk)? therefore grinding my way to 50?

Job and base class share the same level. So if you level ARC to 30 and unlock BRD, you then become a level 30 BRD. If you then level up BRD to 50, your ARC is also level 50. In fact, as you level BRD, you get a message that says you have earned ARC experience points. You are actually leveling the base class while you play as the job. What makes you the job is a specific item, called a Soul Crystal, which you can get by completing a quest at level 30. The max level is the same as job or class: 50. Your job and class will always be the same level.

It's best to just think of a Job as a piece of equipment, since that's exactly how you turn them on. Your job doesn't level, your class does even if you are "wearing" a job.

It's basically the same as Monster Hunter. Only MH didn't have levels either. Gear was your class and your level.

Should you Use Low Level Gear When Synching Down to a Low Dungeon?

I ended up at level 29 but still need to do three of the lower level dungeons. I know we will be synched down, but should i also put on low level gear or will the game automatically lower my gear stats?

what about skills that you gain at highter levels? also deactivated? thanks for any help on this.

You don't use lower level gear, no. It automatically syncs your gear down, so there's no need to change your gear.

The higher level skills will be removed, though. You will be capped at whatever skills you would have available at the level you are synced to. I often ask people to give me a moment when entering a lower level dungeon so I can see what I actually have to work with.

Well the good thing about having lower level gear is that it costs a lot less to repair it, compared to using synced-down high level gear.

It's pretty much the only advantage, though.

OK thanks to you both on that issue. I may dress down a bit, since it wont matter ...but i was expecting to lose skills as well as gear strength. Just wanted to check. thanks again.

Does that sync-down take into account the quality of your gear? If you have high-quality gear for your current level does it sync to the equivalent of high-quality for the synced level while normal quality would sync to the equivalent of normal quality for the synced level? Or does it just sync everything better than what the synced level could wear down to some standard set of stats it considers appropriate for that synced level?

No, you're still confused. Classes go all the way to 50. Your job level is always the same as the underlying class level; any exp you earn as the job goes to the class (which levels your job as well since they share the level). Think of it this way: your job is just a specialized way of playing the class. You're still the underlying class.
