Thread: Color Blindness and Playing FFXIV

I found out today that color blind folks are having a tough time seeing the big circles on the floor. This is true especially for folks who are red color blind.

Most games have some type of adjustment to the graphics that allows color blind folks to see this stuff.

Hmm, I am red-green color blind; the only time I have had a hard time in this game is when the red circles appear on green land (i.e. grass). Other than that they are fairly easy to see for me. Other games I have had a much harder time.

A thread was brought up about colour-blindness in the beta forums as some people couldn't tell the difference between passive/aggressive mobs and there was a very quick dev responce to this issue including a picture of different colours for all the symbols to see which would work best for those individuals. I would guess the same thing would happen here if it was posted in the right section of the forum and had a decent amount of attention from the players.

I'm not even colour blind and find it hard to notice the targeting markers in Shadow Flare, but it's worse when it's Archers fire circle as it's red. These targeting markers need increased definition with higher visual priority over those 2 abilities.

Glad to know it's not just me having that issue.

It's sometimes really hard for me to see the Red circles. Would love to see a Colorblind Mode for that. It sucks that people call you a bad player only because you can't see the markings.

The only issue I have is when the circle appears in Water or under some other effect.

We've had a few color-blind individuals running Garuda with us. Most often tanks or some form of DD who wouldn't be able to distinguish which add to attack or hold. Thankfully, they always let us know this before hand so the mobs could be properly marked, though I do wish there was some graphical means of adjusting this so they don't have to do that with each group.

Whats awful is when there are lots of SMNs and BRDs that throw their damage circles on the ground, and you cant see the enemy damage circles (which actually matter, unlike SMNs/BRDs).
