1) stoneskin yourself up before adds pop
2) don't use Any regen before adds pop. A good tank will cancel any remaining regen on them before adds pop as well.
3) Dont' panic and running around if you get overwhelm. Holy > Self heal > Runaway. (holy for stun purpose, then you can safely heal self.)
(Actually cleric stance + holy will kill adds very fast)
When I can predict when the adds will come during boss fight I top everyone (+ Succor) so i don't need to throw a cure when they arrive and avoid getting hate
If I know I will get it anyway I use stoneskin on myself and keep myself healed and tank while the DPS take care of the adds
Or as use my fairy as sacrifice bait and use her heals in the meantime

Ohh My GawdS!!!
Why should a mage take care of (Enmity) anyways?!
Your main Job as WHM/CNJ is
H e a L i n g
and magic spell management.
(Why?) do a (Disciples of War) job?! (/furious)
Only thing one cando atm is to (/comfort) any WHM/CNJ main healers:
you got the worst job to do ... and most boring one, right now :/.
Things could be much enjoyable & more aWesome, if we only could get rid of Casting Times:

Until you memorize a fight it will be hairy. After you do, when you know adds are coming don't regenerate anyone. Use cures and stoneskin until they spawn and are picked up. Then your pretty safe
Part of the challenge of playing a healer is managing ones emnityWe don't always have the luxury of being able to just stop what we are doing like a DPS can if we gain too much hate (at least not without people dying) but as people have said there are always ways to minimise the extra emnity that we generate
- Be careful with HOT's like Regen
- Don't Overheal more than you need to
- Don't use more powerful heals when a lesser one will do
- Try and anticipate how adds will react
There are situations as a healer where you know you're going to get agro, and you can't avoid it without letting people die, but managing those situations is part of the fun and challenge of healing classes. As with any party member though, how hard your job is will be at least partially dependent on how well your colleagues are doing their jobs![]()
...I have to wonder if that moogle guy even read the thread at all... or knows what Enmity means if he says it's a DoW's job. Ugh.
Anyway, my own advice is to work with your tank and damage dealers to find how best to lower your enmity. But I do have a few general tips
* Put up stoneskin on the tank between pulls in a dungeon for some breathing room.
* Stoneskin yourself in case of accidents.
* When you pull hate, don't panic. Drag them over to whoever needs to take care of them (Either the main tank, or a secondary tank in 8-man situations) and try to keep yourself alive until he can pull them off you.
*Determine beforehand whether your party will be doing AoE or single target kills. If AoE, the DPS SHOULD be doing more damage than you need to heal (If they're not, they shouldn't be trying to AoE burn things down). If single target, make use of Repose to sleep additional monsters (Or ask a BLM to cast sleep). Less damage being done to the tank means less curing needed which means less enmity for you.
*Enmity is a team effort! Everyone should be appropriately geared, especially the tank to both increase their own enmity generation and lower the amount they need to be healed. Similarly, it is the job of the DPS to try and not take damage. They should avoid area attacks whenever possible, especially the less obvious ones (Several bosses have "swipe" attacks that hit everyone in front with no area warning). If the only person you need to heal is the tank, you should not be ripping hate off them.
*The first few seconds are the most volatile. Tanks can generate enmity rather fast and hold it forever, but it's a slow and steady race. If you're starting the fight off with medicas, chances are you'll pull hate off them. Try the same stunt halfway through a boss fight and you'll need to TRY to take it off them. In the case of adds, since you naturally have to heal throughout a boss fight, it's natural that you'll take some hate. As mentioned before, just stay calm and work with the tanks to get it off you.
I will say that spells like Regen and Medica II have their place, and in fact I use regen a lot, especially to help me heal faster through heavy damage sections. The trick is just not to cast it at the end of a battle, but instead early on once the tank has secured hate (When you'd start curing normally anyway), with Medica II for heavy damage situations (Like just after a primal's heavy AoE attack.
Similarly, white mages SHOULD attack when they don't need to cure. Assuming the tank knows how to do their job and is decently geared (And I only ask for level appropriate gear, not excessive crap like level 90), all the damage you can generate won't rip hate off them, assuming proper precautions are being taken so you don't have to heal so much.
The most trouble I have is with the ranged mobs. I can move near the tank, hit shroud, and let him grab the melee but will continue to pull all ranged mobs until tank moves to pick the up. It's often a quick death at that point unless tank puts cover on me and dps helps take them out.
the mobs have a spell range just like you do as well as needing line of sight. Hide behind the environment or run far enough away so they have to move to the tank to cast on you.The most trouble I have is with the ranged mobs. If those don't apply sleep them.
For this kind of mob, a skilled tank should know how to use obstruction to lure them into melee range. If u happened to accompany such crap tank, try sleep the ranged mob for him...The most trouble I have is with the ranged mobs.
