Question about CM and Sleep

Hello I was just wondering if sleeping all the mobs before heading into the boss area and locking them out is a bannable offence? I am hearing two different things some people say its fine and other people say its bannable can a GM rep give a confirmation about this? I do not want my account banned because of this.

Using game mechanics to circumvent other game mechanics is a possibility of ban. The intent of the lockout is to prevent zerging of bosses. So using it to circumvent the monster aggro could be considered exploit behavior. However, I don't know if they are going to go out of their way right now to police it.

That doesn't give you the green light to do it... They stated previously that doing anything that is not intended in game play is bannable and skipping mobs would definitely be one of those... If you don't want to get banned you may want to watch your steps and play as intended... This also included attacking a monster that is frozen and can't fight back ect...

Bannable? Yes. Will you get banned for it? Probably not.

There's also a good chance this will be 'fixed' soon.

Based on experience in other games, if you're not doing something that actually exploits a bug, it's not bannable. However the company reserves the right to nerf tactics that were not the developers intention. For example
- There is a high spot in Qarn's first boss room
- Chimera freezing, this is an exploit and bannable.
- Players farming Dark Devices Act I by not killing the correct mobs until 1 minute is left.
- SE has made AK harder by preventing skipping the mobs a certain way. They've put a notice out today about "Fixing" this in other level 50 dungeons.

If you sleep a group of mobs right in front of a teleporter and run past it, it's not that different from doing the same thing anywhere else on the field (like running into Natalan to get your relic weapon part, or running through FATE's) Who knows SE might change their mind.

I just wanted to know if it was bannable just to make it clear i leave groups that say they are doing this "trick" before we enter the dungeon.

Yeah, not sure how that's an exploit at all, considering that's one of the reasons for the spell's existence. Hell, there's a thau class quest which teaches you to do this. you don't need to fight every MOB on the map to get to your relic part. if you had to, then 90% of players would get banned for purposely navigating around aggressive MOBs instead of fighting them all.

If that's a bannable offense then everyone in FFXI would have been banned lol Sleeping mobs and running is a well loved tactic in MOST of FFXI's content
