I was just wandering if the new dungeons are going to be more tome grinds. If that is the case the should rethink what they are doing.

People complain they need more content to grind tomes with, now people complain there might be new content to grind tomes with.
Not a surprise. The surprise is that people think the dev team cares about both sides. They're going to do what they've spent millions of dollars designing the game to do, and take public opinion on how they should best do it.
How do I know? It's called common sense. Companies don't spend millions of dollars designing a product only to change the very foundation of the years work of design to cater to people. Now if the entire community(or vast majority) rose up and said "Hey, we passionately hate this but for some reason we won't stop subscribing like normal people when we don't like a game!" perhaps that'd be different. If their progression design involves tokens to slow down progression and reward gear(especially since it's common in MMOs and many people are aware and expected it) it's not likely to change. And how do you know what the devs care about? Are you working with them? If not, don't speak for them because you have no right to. You in no way represent SE or their Dev team. If the devs don't want to hear from their players on certain parts of the game then they or the community reps will close/delete the thread.

People with different opinions? SURPRISE!

The token system is the foundation of the game? Funny because before the token system (which is mainly apparent in endgame than anywhere else) gear dropped in dungeons. I would hardly call that a foundation for the game. There's plenty of ways to slow progression in which this game already has plenty of. Which is RNG for one. Chest drops being the 2nd and boss drops being the 3rd. Have you also not seen how many runs some people had to do just to get their weapon drops from HM Primals? Changing from the token system would in no way mess with the foundation of the game, as you have said it has been done many times in MMOs. In the end it all amounts to gear being that carrot on the stick. That's the real foundation for pretty much all MMOs these days and this game especially not being an exception. How do I know? There. I didn't even have to say it myself. Thanks.
They use it to control the speed players do content so they will hopefully last until more comes out. It's meant to be that BIG, wonderful thing that is attainable by all but only under a set time frame. Games do this because it's an alternative to RNG where some people are very lucky and get it all in a week while others never get all the drops(especially competing against others in 8man content). This way they guarantee you can reasonably be geared and complete this phase of content in an estimated time frame. MMO=Time Sink

Yes. 2.1 will be more tome grinding...but with the added despair of MORE people lotting on your gear drops in tower! Please look forward to it.

Hopefully they'll add tokens with this update. 24 people raiding at the same time and only 3 - 6 gears dropping won't still be enough for Crystal Tower.

What they really need are vanity items, things sort of like the rewards for Behemoth/Odin, but that are rare drops in dungeons. Just something to spice life up a little.
If you had to choose between a million dollars and saving your best friend...what would be the first thing you'd buy?
When I go to coil, it's not for the tomes.
True that I do make sure and grind enough Myth to cap each week. That takes maybe... 6-8 hours of play time, including monday AK queue (as tank). Could be less if get your coil tomes first and not count that as a 'grind'.
Philo tomes... I don't feel the need to max crafted gear. And finished Darklight weeks ago for main job. Most of that coming from stuff that wasn't done specifically for the philo tomes: AK, dungeons while leveling 40-50 on multiple classes, random primals, 1x story CM/prae.
Of course not everyone alike, but I'd estimate only about 15-20% of my play time currently is tome grind. Not counting things done for other reasons that happen to give tomes too.
