There's asking and there's rudely interupting a conversation.

I am abolutely convinced that this topic would not even exist if the OP had just taken the trouble to type out:
    "Can you please speak English?"

Aside from that, I am convinced by the way the OP is responding that perhaps more happened than he or she is letting go here.

When I join a pug group as a native English speaker I have no problems understanding that I might get a non-english group if I select all langauges when I queue up. I just send out a message through auto-translater letting them know I speak English and it is up to the party members to decided if they want to communicate with me.

This sounds like you have a strong sense of entitlement that everything should be in English just because you only know English. The world doesn't revolve around English and saying "English pls" can be offensive to non-English players. It kinda dumb to me that you can't even bother using proper English to request that people use English. If anything the players would know proper English over acronyms and internet slang.

OP didn’t so much “ask” as “dictate”. Moreover, people are not obligated to talk to you in any language regardless whether it’s DF or not. And when the conversation is social in nature, the OP has no right to inject himself into a conversation he is not a part of. How do you think you'd look if you walk up to a couple strangers in a store talking to each other in a foreign language and tell them "english pls"?

This is NOT a random store where you walk in, this is when you're working on some project and suddenly two people in your group start talking in some language nobody understands while you're trying to finish your project. I don't know, but I'm pretty damn sure most people wouldn't appreciate that.

Also if "english pls" is already dictating how people are supposed to play holy crap what is this community coming too. Soon you'll need to write a 10 page essay in the most polite writing possible to check whether it's ok to even ask something.

no, just a few letters, a couple of words and a questionmark.

You expect us to conform, we expect the same of you.

If you have a problem with people speaking a language outside your own then why not join a FC that can run all the dungeons you require in your language? Your analogy is wrong. It would be more like 4 random people being pushed together to finish a project and you demanding they all speak english regardless of their knowledge of the language just because you feel english is superior or because you don't want to be in the dark about what they are talking about.

It's DF, you can't get anymore random than that. Those people are not OP's friends.

Why? do you get offended too when your friends want to have a private conversation that doesn't include you? Have you even ever had experience working with people who speaks other languages? what you claim "most people wouldn't appreciate" happens about once every two minutes where I work.

Ummm what? Try 7% native English speakers and 30% as a second language. Hardly the majority of the world.

And if you really wanted to get specific, the majority of the world's population would speak Mandarin. So chinese pls.

The duty finder doesn't pull people just on your server. It pulls from all servers. You know how you can select all languages to queue up for? Other people in other countries have the same option. Likely there are fewer FR and GR players.. so using some logic here... if there are fewer FR and GR players then they could and likely do have longer queue times if they want to try to get a only FR or GR group. So say you have 3 FR players and they want a quick dungeon run. Would you wait for your language to pop or select JP and EN so that you can get a faster pop on the dungeon you want?

Nothing in the game says they NEED to know English and because you don't understand the Duty Finder or relative population issues for specific languages then YOU are upset that they don't speak english. The only problem here is YOU.

Misschien moeten we aandringen "nederlandse alstublieft".
