You answered your own question. What happened to players?

    15 years happened.

Back in EQ1 & FFXI, many people were probably still on dial-up internet. Google and its immense database were not as widespread. If you needed help, you asked fellow players in game.

15 years did happen. People do believe they are indeed "veterans" in MMOs. They know what to expect. They know the progression of things. They know what AH is, what RMT is, what end-game is.

Coupled with that, MMO system has changed, & duty finder is another new thing. It being cross-server, you won't see anyone else ever again, so I am guilty because I didn't talk, and neither did the others.

I have gotten used to it now. Not just in FF14, but also in GW2, TERA, SWTOR.

But it doesn't mean I don't miss the good old days, because I do. I wish I could go back and experience it again.
