How well does Cooking and Alchemy make for gil?

So I am currently trying to level cooking and alchemy, since I am leveling fishing and botany for my DoL. I was just wondering how well cooking and alchemy bring in gil, if any. I usually don't craft or gather in other mmos I play, but at the moment it seems like the ONLY way to make gil @_@ I also don't have a lot of time on my hands, so please dont say to level up all classes to 50 and go pro u.u it would be great to hear some of your alternate suggestions though.

If you don't have a lot of time, don't level any crafting.

I've done rough estimates and if you play an average of 3 hrs a day and stop to get a coffee or whatever 5 or 6 times, 5 minutes a go, you will need 5 weeks of pure shard farming to level all the crafts to 50. 3hrs a day, 7 days a week, 5 weeks. Mashing the 0/ Ins key as you run in a circle.

Gold farmers are many things, stupid isn't one of them. They knew what putting shards in the gathering line worked out to.

If you insist on doing it, I suggest you quad grind at 29 Botany and Miner. At 29, farm crystals and shards in all the zones. Do so for 1000 tic's. It will get you a level, 500 crystals, around 1200 shards if you use wards on the +1 yields and it will get you the tier III achievements for the gathering in the respective area.

    - Shards
    - Crystals
    - 1 level
    - Achievement

It will take 5 hrs of run, spam Insert, run, spam Insert.

    Fun....

Cheer up, you only have another 20,000 to go for you luminary pick and hatchet.

Cooking is a hidden gem right now. Materials are fairly cheap, and as more players get to end game dungeons the more high level foods will be consumed, and the demand increases. Crafters that make HQ2star items will ALWAYS buy the highest level food they can get, because typical payouts can be around 50-100k for each synth in that level, so there's already a big market for that.

Most people don't level CUL past 37 because Reclaim isn't that useful if you're guaranteed 100% HQ'ing your synths anyway, and generally its because YOU messed up you need to use reclaim, where as 37 gives you SHII, the most important crafting skill in the game. But if you take it to 50 and gear yourself, you can spend little time making expensive foods that more and more people will need as the next few weeks go by.

well, the best crafting foods sell HQ for 6k on my server. The materials costs about 1500 gil in all (crystals included), so it can sell for quite a bit. BUT, it doesnt sell often enough to actually be worth it, and the mahi mahi is pricy if you want the control food.

It's going to vary by server.

Find stuff that saves people time while they play the game, or that they can't get on their own. Make it and sell it.
