I was in a group where both the brd and whm jumped into the tree. I didnt think nothing of it. Now that you guys are crying about it Im gonna make fuss if I see it again. Things dont become a problem till some one starts crying. Damn all this community does is bitch.

Huh? So in your eyes violating the ToS using obvious exploits/bugs is not a problem, as long as no one talks about it? Come on. That's like some guys gang raping a girl in a bus full of other people and everyone else just turns away and pretends to see nothing ... if something is wrong, it doesn't magically turn out to be the right thing just because everyone keeps silent about it. Golems and AoE attacks are clearly not meant to be avoided by standing on a tree. Placing a ranged DPS up on that tree, just makes things even worse, as your DPS can kill stuff while barely being hit at all. You don't see how this in not intended?

Yes, because exploiting (notice that I used the term exploit) a digital object in order to procure other digital objects is EXACTLY like violently violating another person's human rights. Yup.

The guy I answered to just stated that everything would have been fine (in a way that standing on the tree was not an exploitative or bug-using behaviour) if everyone just kept quiet about it. The issue still stands, doing something wrong doesn't turn into the right thing just because everyone keeps silent about it.

And to all the jokers that stood up to defend exploiting the game:

An issue wherein players were able to fight monsters in the instanced dungeon “Amdapor Keep” without taking any damage.

This was taken from today's patch notes. This makes it official, everyone who stood on that tree was actually using a bug and therefore exploiting. It really isn't that hard to tell if something isn't working as intended - just apply common sense.

And this is why the Salvage bans from FFXI hit the community so hard. Yes...let's just keep game breaking bugs a secret so you can exploit them.

Mind you, definitely NOT calling this game breaking, it's more mind boggling if anything.

And before you start with "But it's not under confirmed bugs" you better take a look at that section, there's virtually no "confirmed bug" in that section, maybe that section isn't used as it's supposed to be, or stuff just doesn't have enough priority to be "confirmed". Additionally, if it was working as intended, then the bug report would have gone into the "working as intended" subcategory (as that one is for sure used, as you can tell by the dozens of threads in that category).

The only thing which "boggles my mind" is that people seriously think that it's alright to use this exploit, as if it's the intended design of that tree...I really really hope they drop the Banhammer hard on anyone who uses this. I really can't imagine their real life behavior; if they steal clothes because, why else would Kohls just leave all these shirts out in the middle of the store, they must have intended for me to take it for free. If they didn't intend for me to steal it they should put up invisible walls around everything.

Tell that to people who 'utilized the environment' in salvage via FFXI. SE let them continue doing it for almost a year before banning a large majority who did it.

While we're on the subject of AK: Can ppl pls stop hiding behind the pillars on Anantaboga's catastrophe please?!! You're ruining the game for me omg!! exploiters........

On a more serious note though, dont give me bullshit about how hiding from catastrophe is working as intended when you can clearly survive the dmg from catastrophe in the first place so its not really needed to hide behind the pillar is it? If people shouldn't be climbing tree's then SE can remove them or fix it in the upcoming hotfix next week or make it known via posts in forums to everyone.

Perhaps some of the grind that comes with having to spam AK for the tomes will be alleviated with whatever dungeons they decide to add tomes too but we shall see.
