I'm kind of confused... how are the other party members making a white mage climb up a tree?

I am confused. This sounds exactly like the "Hop on the mound to avoid Doom" strategy in Qarn, but I don't know why you would because the boss is a joke.

it's definitely an exploit, there really is no question, because it forces the golems to attack a player who can not be reached and therefore breaks the encounter. If you are part of a party who practices this, SE may ban the entire party, even if the healer is the only one who supports the exploit. It has been explicitly stated by SE that if you complete a boss using an exploit then you will be banned, the correct action would be to immediately use the return function and reset the boss. This of course depends on SE not being wusses and actually enforcing their own rules, so far I would say they have 0 backbone.

You must be new to online SE games. They have banned more players than most games have total in their playerbase. SE does not hesitate and often permabans on first offenses. They aren't going to be spying on your games watching for you to exploit. However, if someone reports you and they can find proof, you're getting the ban hammer for sure.

Was there any proof of an exploit? If there was you can report them. You don't even have to be on the same world as them. Reporting after the fact in regards to someone using an exploit is pretty difficult to prove.
In the AK tree scenario, or any group in which members ask you to use a known exploit, refuse on the grounds that it is an exploit, and if they insist, report them. They will get banned.
Some of the groups in question have openly admitted to exploit-killing Twintania and then reported themselves and the exploit only after making use of the exploit. Was there any proof of an exploit? The first FC to use the Twintania exploit admitted it, reported it after the kill and looting, according to the TOS they should have been perma-banned on the spot, SE has yet to actually acknowledge or address the FC in question. SE may have been extremely strict in the past, but they are currently showing that you can get away with breaking the TOS with no repercussions...unless you made too much Gil legitimately, then you'll have all your Gil taken away after a week suspension. Was there any proof of an exploit? Huh? What's the point.
I'm a healer, I rarely heal against the first boss of AK because he's that dang easy. I put on cleric stance, toss a few fairy heals and just DoT/Ruin II/Energy Drain the crap out of the boss.
Even killing the add brings him down prior to the 2nd catastrophe. If someone is seriously asking you to do this for a speed run, remind him/her that there are speed run groups out there that finish AK completely legit in 25 minutes. No deaths. Only skipping mobs by not not aggro'ing them.

The tree thing can take just as much time as fighting the boss normally. Calling it a game breaking exploit is a bit extreme. I get sick of watching people trying to jump into the branch for 10 minutes.
