Controller problem/Question to the PS3 players out there.

Tried searching through the net for a clue, still looking for an idea on how to fix this, and thought I'd see if anyone here knows what to do while I search.

I was in the game playing normally, when all of a sudden my character just stopped moving. The R2 crossbar was selected. couldn't open the start menu due to the start button only taking pictures, and I couldn't even open up the PS menu to shut the game or system off. Manual shutdown and restart. Give it a moment, restart, and when its finished loading instant rapidfire reaction from the controller. I think its rapidfire scrolling or something. I tried resetting the controller, and nothing. No buttons are working...well actually the the shape buttons slow the rapidness a little but don't stop it. X selects what is selected at that moment, but it still goes right back to rapidfire scrolling. Any ideas on what to do?

Try using another controller.
Sounds like you are having hardware issues.
Also turn the system off and plug your controller in then turn it on.

Never got a second one. Was hoping not to have to. I tried plugging it in and turning it on, but immediately it starts freaking out and only the reset button in the back can turn it off.
