Mithrie's Disciples of the Hand Leveling Guides

    Hey all,

I have made some guides on YouTube covering the general approach to get the most experience points when leveling all Disciples of the Hand:

    1-15: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbQaOzmGWPg

In this episode I look at the Disciples of the Hand of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. I focus on Leatherworking and explain the best way of earning experience points. During the episode I explain how using my method I was able to earn more than 7000 experience points where as someone else not knowing what they are doing might only earn 1700. This video is recommended for anyone that is first starting to level their Disciples of the Hand.

    15-25: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZsQxvM1hE4

In this episode I take another look at the Disciples of the Hand progressing through 15 to 25. I share the abilities Tricks of the Trade (15 Alchemist), Careful Synthesis (15 Weaver) and Ingenuity (15 Blacksmith) on all professions while getting them all beyond 15. I also look at the triple bonus guild leves give for turning in high quality items. This is aimed at crafting between 15-25.

    25-30: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUv3fW1j6MM

In this episode I take another look at the Disciples of the Hand progressing through 25 to 30. A long the way I craft a bunch of High Quality accessories as a gift for Seraphis Thrallwym (Sambo -http://www.youtube.com/user/sambonz) as a thank you for introducing me to Final Fantasy 14 and the Distant World Free Company here on Masamune.

I share the abilities Rumination (15 Carpenter), Rapid Synthesis (15 Armorer), Waste Not (15 Leatherworker), Careful Synthesis (15 Weaver), Tricks of the Trade (15 Alchemist) on all professions while getting them all beyond 25. I also look at the 3 turn in triple bonus guild leves in Quarry Mill which gives the best results by turning in high quality items. This is aimed at crafting between 25-30.

    30-35: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE35q0MYUi4

In this episode I take another look at the Disciples of the Hand progressing through 30 to 35. At this level range I do tradeleve quests in Costa Del Sol which give the following rewards:
Carpenter: The Long Lance of the Law: 9xHQ Steel Halberds - 124983 exp 3969 gil
Blacksmith: Don't Fear the Reaper: 9xHQ Steel Scythe - 172170 exp 3690 gil
    Armorsmith: They've Got Legs: 9xHQ Steel Sabatons - 159030 exp 6318 gil
Goldsmith: Get the Green Stuff: 9xHQ Malachite Earrings - 159030 exp 3384 gil
Leatherworker: Subordinate Clause: 9xHQ Goatskin Chokers - 106758 exp 4050 gil
Weaver: Walk Softly and Carry a Big Halberd: 9xHQ Velveteen Dress Shoes - 159030 exp 3375 gil
Alchemist: Growing is Knowing: 9xHQ Growth Formula Gamma - 159030 exp 1314 gil
Cooking: Sole Survivor: 9xHQ Baked Sole - 159030 exp 2241 gil

I share the abilities Rumination (15 Carpenter), Rapid Synthesis (15 Armorer), Waste Not (15 Leatherworker), Careful Synthesis (15 Weaver), Tricks of the Trade (15 Alchemist) on all professions while getting them all beyond 30. At level 31 you also earn the ability Standard Synthesis which gives 150% efficiency, 90% success rate and costs 15 CP. This is aimed at crafting between 30-35.

    35-40: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq3L6PMY4K0

In this episode I take another look at the Disciples of the Hand progressing through 35 to 40. At this level range I do tradeleve quests in the First Dicasterial Observatorium of Aetherial and Astrological Phenomena.

I also look at the new abilities you receive at 37 such as Brand of Fire, Brand of Earth. These abilities are used to craft Vintage gear which is made from dungeon item drops. This is aimed at crafting between 35-40.
I am actually leveling them all at the same time so I can save bag space and not have to hold too much equipment of various levels.

    40-45: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYpFh-8FM6c

In this episode I take another look at the Disciples of the Hand progressing through 40 to 45. At this level range I do tradeleve quests at Whitebrim Front.

I share the abilities Rumination (15 Carpenter), Rapid Synthesis (15 Armorer), Waste Not (15 Leatherworker), Careful Synthesis (15 Weaver), Tricks of the Trade (15 Alchemist) and Steady Hand II (37 Culinarian) on all professions while getting them all beyond 30. At level 31 you also earn the ability Standard Synthesis which gives 150% efficiency, 90% success rate and costs 15 CP. I also look at the new abilities you receive at 37 such as Brand of Fire, Brand of Earth. These abilities are used to craft Vintage gear which is made from dungeon item drops. This is aimed at crafting between 40-45.

    45-50: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0qCusY_m7c

In this episode I take another look at the Disciples of the Hand progressing through 45 to 50. At this level range I do tradeleve quests at Saint Cornach's Find in Mor Dhona.

I also look at the new abilities you receive at 37 such as Brand of Fire, Brand of Earth. These abilities are used to craft Vintage gear which is made from dungeon item drops. This is aimed at crafting between 45-50.

I will add higher level guides to this thread as I get there.

I hope you all find the guides useful. If you have any comments or feedback please let me know.

    Repeatable Trade Leve Locations:

Here is a list of locations I have and will be using to level all my Disciples of the Hand. I only do the multiple turn in leves which are marked by a yellow card with a young and old woman on them. This way you can earn up to 9x the specified reward from them.

    0-10 - Leves not available
10-15 - Ul'dah, Limsa or Gridania depending on profession.
15-25 - Aldeport (starting from major cities)... Will update this step once I check through my notes again.
    25-30 - Quarry Mill
    30-35 - Costa Del Sol
35-40 - First Dicasterial Observatorium of Aetherial and Astrological Phenomena
    40-45 - Whitebrim Front
    45-50 - Mor Dohna

The idea is, with making High Quality items all the way when turning in leves at these locations you will earn so much bonus experience points that between crafting the required items and turning in High Quality for the 200% bonus, you can get an entire craft level per leve. I will be making videos covering each of these locations to add to the list in the above post.

I have updated the guide to include the descriptions of each video and bring it up to date with the 35-40 video. 40-45, 45-50 and Artifact Gear guides coming soon. I hope you find them useful, if have any comments, feedback or suggestions for me, I'm always willing to learn from others crafters.

I just found your Post, Mithrie, but haven't had time to look over the YT vids as I'm about to head to work. Thank you in advance for this Post, though! I'm looking forward to crafting after watching them

I started watching the videos. Very informative and it proposes a thorough look at crafting in itself as well as leveling a craft. Cleared a few questions for me. Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot I appreciate the feedback. I have definitely learnt a lot along the way. I am hoping in few days to ding all the crafts to 50 at the same time as the method I describe in the videos have made the process very easy to get through it. I hope everyone finds them useful.

I only recently started looking for crafting guides to see if I've missed anything and found this thread today. I haven't managed to watch much of it yet, since the videos are quite long, but there is one thing that I noticed.
At 17:06 in the first video, the red glow indicates a Good condition. It's a good thing, which is the opposite of what you said in the video.
The different colors mean the following:
    Purple: Poor
    White: Normal
    Red: Good
    Flashing in various colors: Excellent

For a let's play video it's fine, but since you're advertising this as a guide, you might want to fix that with an annotation or put it in the video description or something similar.

That's all I have for now. I will try to watch the rest of it when I find the time.

Yeah it was part of the learning process for me. The reason I said it was a bad thing is because at low level without steady hand it would blow up the craft a lot, so I did tactics to avoid it blowing up initially. I have explained in the later videos about how I get HQ all the time using my rotation. I will see about updating the description later on.

Someone I know seemed to level this really quick but won't share their method. It seems like a long grind when I was trying this out in-game.
