Where is the uniqueness and variety in gear?

Anyone else find the gear in this game... boring? There are some pieces here and there that are pretty cool looking.. but what this game lacks compared to others I've played since 2000 is uniqueness and variety... everyone looks the same. Pretty much the same gear you get from quest is same gear you can buy from vendors or craft. Up to a certain point there really isn't much special about your gear... I personally believe that it's more rewarding and fun when you can obtain unique and a much more variety of gear via quest, crafting, dungeons at any given level. Sure we replace armor pretty often in this game.. but at least we all don't look the same... dying armor alone isn't enough..

I love the gear in this game. Mind you I haven't played zillions of MMO's but the ones I have played are lackluster compared to this game. Maybe the OP could list examples of games with better gear. When I played 11 everyone looked exactly the same, when I played WoW they kept recoloring old gear and calling it "new", when I played SWTOR well, again bleh. Browns and robes abounded. No thank you. As this game goes on I expect to see some nice stuff and am looking forward to it.

Just give it time, soon enough everyone will be in the same 2 different sets of gear. They'll catch up with the grind and get the best ones they can. It is the same with all mmo's really. You can't have multiple 'best' items in the game, it would become to easy to get them, or insanely difficult. Yes there are a few different options available here you can choose from unlike other mmo's, but a few is a few, and you will end up seeing them on everyone who has made the grind to achieve it.

This is why PVP will FAIL! Everyone will have the exact same gear at some point, so where is the challenge in PVP? I guess the only real challenge will be who has a better internet connection.
