    STUN + GCD is annoying

    The 2.5 second GCD ( gobal cooldown ) is ok but when you need to use stun it is very annoying and frustrating.

    It basically means stun is 2.5 second cast time if you just used action moments before mob casts ability you need to stun .

    IMO stun should work instantly regardless of GCD but have internal cooldown to avoid spam of course .


    I almost have to actually wait hoping for mob to make their attack so I can stun , at this point im auto attacking instead of holding agro , but if I do 3 button combo then mob ability appears .. I usually don't have time to stun mob before they land ability . Or I will land stun after the ability which is worthless .

    Anyone else think STUN + GCD is annoying

    Oh, but it has a 30 second CD.

    This has been brought up in numerous other threads.

    You can't have it both ways and the way our stun works right now is just fine. If you know the fight and what to watch for and know how to properly work your rotation then you shouldn't have issues stunning, especially on easy things that have a set pattern time and again (Ifrit HM).

    The annoying thing about that is even off the GCD, you can't just hit it when you want. There's a delay between using an ability on the GCD and then hitting stun. Small, sure, but enough to mess up things.

    This too has been my main prob with tanking so far.. when I'm asked to both hold aggro (main tank) and use stun to stop a bosses abilities because there is no offtank PLD to do it. Without exception there are going to be times when the boss starts casting the ability right after you've just used an enmity ability.. and that's it you can't hit the stun in time because of GCD.

    Not all bosses have predictable cast times for their abilities. Dhorme Chimera throws them up randomly it seems to me and often. Not sure but lag might be a factor too.. sometimes i notice the bosses casting bar moves or jumps faster than other times.

    Anyway, I'm mainly looking for specific info on how the pros do it. Ability hotbar placement, shortcut keys, what to look for, etc? Specifics
    I'm still using the mouse to hit my abilities. Do i need to study each fight like a freak?

    I have both warrior and paladin .

    The warrior stun effect seems delayed too .

    Not sure if its the animation delay or lag . Paladin stun seems faster which makes me think its not lag but the animation takes place then stun hits .

    Hard to say for sure but that is a different discussion . But most people seem happy with how paladin stun works so I guess I will have to get used to it .

    I actually enjoy the trade-off. It means you need to either be dead-weight and just react to a cast bar, or get good and learn the boss patterns so you know when to throttle your DPS/Aggro and not miss the stun.

    It's animation delay, it's something you'll learn to deal with. Attacks have different animation times and you'll learn to handle with experience. I have no trouble landing the Warrior stun anymore after learning and studying my enemies.

    Overall I learned to enjoy it more actually. I feel like I learned more overall about my class and character and what I can and can not handle.

    Off GCD abilities can always be used after the half way point of the GCD I noticed. Once it reaches the half way point you can immediately activate it. If you have a feeling a devastating attack is coming up consider your options and you should do fine.

    Personally I think it's retarded that stun is on the GCD (mostly because the GCD is long in this game) and has an animation delay. Also warrior and paladin should both have an equal stun ability, interrupt is a basic mechanic and to gimp one tank over the other was a bad idea to begin with.

    If I'm main tanking and I need to also watch for interruptible abilities, I should be able to interrupt instantly. The current system has created the role of "stun bot", which is just stupid.
