Forced to alt-tab for game to catch up. Please help.

When I first picked up FF14 the game didn't run great (I'm on a GTX 260) but it ran well enough to play. I never had any real issues.

Over the past week, for reasons I cannot explain, my game has become incredibly wonky to the point of almost unplayable. Everywhere I go the game seems to be having trouble "loading" things. The zone, enemies, everything you can think of. I had to stand in the gladiators guild for roughly 2 minutes before the master decided to render.

You can imagine what this means when trying to do FATE's, or ANYTHING ELSE.

The biggest problem is the failing to render issue. And the biggest hint to the problem is that I can alt-tab, and after about 5-10 seconds of being alt tabbed the game "catches up" and everything has been loaded and rendered. This wouldn't bother me but I have to do it continuously. Everywhere I go.

Does *anyone* know why this would be occurring? I've been working on computers for twenty years and I cannot figure out why this has suddenly started happening.

    Please, please help.

What is your processor? I know on my computer and my parents computer (whose also have a 260) we have only dual core, so I have to set the priority of the ffxiv.exe to high.

Core 2 duo 2.66. High helps sometimes but it's very random.

Ummm, the problem is with your processor. I take you didn't read the minimum specs for the game? Minimum specs for the game are a Dual Core Processor running at a minimum of 3.0GHz. So you either need to OC that get another Socket 775 Processor at a higher speed or you need a new computer. If you have the money I would say upgrade to i7 Architecture.

It may, i would look into OCing it to 3.0 to be on the safe side, but you still are only going get 15-25 fps at the most, maybe 30-40 in unpopulated areas, forests, deserts, etc..., but thats a big maybe.
