Once we get the vote kick the problem would probably be solved unless its a premade joining. But since that hasn't been implemented yet I normally leave. I end up having to do a lot of work in CM runs since I'm tanking. I don't like the idea of someone benefitting from me having to do all the pulling and tanking while other people just mooch.
I've hated moochers, if some real life issues comes up then I leave. People that have "IRL" issues that arise need to follow suite. Real life problems should take priority over video games and afking to handle them is no excuse. Unless its a piss break then that's fine. So anything over like 5 minutes to me is when I tell people I'm out. Has only happened once to me so that's not too bad.
If you take the 15 min penalty, you can still queue up again right away if you group with someone and they queue for you.
When im looking for a party using Duty finder normally finds quickly if not then ill chill watch tv while keeping an eye on the screen listening for the noise. If i am preparing and i have to go away i turn it off till i come back and if in a party and i have to go away like 5 mins or less like restroom or drink i say brb if i know im going to be awhile i tell the party sorry i have to go make sure i dont have leader and leave because then they can get someone to help them and play.
I thought I remember reading somewhere that SE didn't want to give DF groups kick power for some reason, but I think they totally should have an option to kick idlers... maybe have the game notice if they've idled for 5-10 mins and then make the option available? You wouldn't normally be standing still in a dungeon for 5 mins anyway, so that would be a good short amount of time to use to determine that someone's AFKing.
As a main tank for CM runs, I despise AFKers, and I think the problem is a lot of people have this attitude like "well, f*ck it, let's just get on with this so I can get my stones." No. If someone's clearly AFKing, I will stop tanking and demand that person join the group. There's no way in hell that I will ever allow that behavior to pass unscathed. If they try to call my bluff and stay AFK then I will simply leave, whether I end up taking the 15 min hit or not. If I do, then I just craft or fate grind another class for that time period, no big deal.

"Well, it's no Vana'diel, but it'll have to do..."
They'll auto run into a wall, or just alt+tab / stop watching TV / whatever to spacebar every once in a while to prevent a system from auto kicking them for AFK.maybe have the game notice if they've idled for 5-10 mins and then make the option available? Its easy for a tank to say "Well, just leave a party." but even without a 15 minute penalty, DPS can often wait over an hour for a party just having to re-queue. The game needs a votekick system.
Exactly this. I am a tank but usually i'll try to 7 man the 8 man instance because I know how bad the DDs have it and I don't want to make them suffer for the jerkbutts who do that crap. This has the unfortunate side effect of giving the idler what they want but my only choice is to bail, get a 15 minute debuff which doesn't matter to me but make the DDs wait 45 minutes for a new queue which isn't right either. Please add vote kick... make it 75% (3/4 or 6/8). We just need a way to get rid of these people who are clearly just leeching off the rest of us.They'll auto run into a wall, or just alt+tab / stop watching TV / whatever to spacebar every once in a while to prevent a system from auto kicking them for AFK.

Some people don't actually AFK they check back in every once in a while to see the progression. If an idle kicker is implemented people will just come back every 5 minutes or whatever the time out is and move around and buff then go back to being afk. Vote kick is definitely something that has to be implemented for stuff like this.
There are plenty of ways to deter people from doing this without even going that far. The fact that the dungeon can be completed at all when someone is AFKing is a huge red flag. It's really bad design that could easily be fixed with minimal effort on the developer's part. Some people don't actually AFK they check back in every once in a while to see the progression. If you'd implement forced checks (as that's the only way to really stop dungeons from being 6-7 manned by people way outgearing them) people are just gonna be bigger douchebags by making sure the party can't pass those forced checks. There are plenty of ways to deter people from doing this without even going that far. No vote to kick simply doesn't work. Yes, vote to kick isn't foolproof either, but 1 guy being able to ruin it for the other 3/7 is a lot worse than 3/6-7 people ruining it for a single person.
