    Scholars - missing the point

Aside from the double stacking of bubbles argument I feel a lot of scholars are entirely missing the point of the class. If the devs gave you equal healing to WHM's you would be incredibly OP alongside the multiple talents you already have. You are a damage mitigation role, if you don't like damage mitigation and want to heal more then go WHM.

Scholars are a great benefit and can greatly reduce damage to the team but it needs to be done BEFORE the damage hits. Also, you have abilities on your pet bar - use them, don't let the fairy cast at it's own whim. You can drastically reduce dmg incoming to the tank making a good tank healer. You have endless mana. You can spot heal the tank on the move and instantly when needed, and you can move your pet to heal the group or tank while you heal the tank or group. Who else can do that!!!!

It's a fun and amazing class and if you guys want to be a traditional reactionary based healer then I question your class choice not your class.

Yes, exactly! Finally someone else who gets it. >.>

I have both classes at lvl 50. They are both COMPLETELY different play styles. Sch may heal less, but I really like tossing forcefields on people, controlling the fairy, Lustrate (best skill evar), and I even like Succor. Succor is GREAT for topping off the party, because it heals a decent amount, and follows up with a protective shield to prevent some damage. I use it ALL the time. Even to heal people if I know a big AoE is coming, like Garuda or Ifrit's 50% AoE.

Sacred Soil->Succor->Rouse->*swiftcast as AoE is hitting*->Succor->Fey Illumination->*Eos auto-using Whispering Dawn*. Oh look... everyone's just above half HP and climbing? Then you can easily top everyone off with Eos' now OP Embrace (Almost like a second healer) and Physick. Or just have the WHM finish healing everyone with Medica or w/e.

You know what my friend said when I ran those primals with her? "Wow, I love Scholars, that barely even hurt!" That's how you play Scholars. You have to prevent the damage before it hits, or you will never catch up.

As a WHM, I'd prefer to heal alongside a competent scholar rather than a 2nd competent whm. When I'm in party with another WHM, we're constantly overlapping heals. We both toss a Cure I or II on a dps that derped and one of us wastes a cast. Or we both Cure II the tank and overheal him. When I'm in party with WHM I find myself watching what the WHM is casting half of the time. And I usually end up just spamming stoneskin on the tank rather than cast any cures because half of them would end up as overheals.

You can stop double healing someone by discussing beforehand if someone should focus on one of the tanks (if you have two) or if one takes care of the tank and the other focuses on the DPS.

But that never actually comes into play, because of habit. Someone's HP goes below 50%? Both WHMs are definitely gonna be tossing a Cure/Cure II on them. Trust me, I've tried it countless times before, and halfway through the fight, we just gave up.

When I'm on my WHM and with another WHM, I usually just abandon Cure II on the tank, because we both would always end up using it at the same time, wasting my MP unless the tank was below 50%.

I just wish people would learn to read the class abilities before choosing it. It's the same with summoners. People complain about it been a DOT class. But it always make me wonder if they even bothered to read the classes abilities before choosing it. I mean you CHOSE that class so don't complain about it.

I think the difference is whether you are pugging or not. If you are both in mumble and can coordinate then yeah it's a lot easier having two WHM's. I still prefer the WHM/SCH combo.

I have a friend who is lv. 50 WHM and lv. 50 SCH and he said the same thing, he prefered to stay with WHM because he plays better with massive healing rather than buffing the party to receive less damage. I am having the opposite experience, I much rather play as SCH than trying to level up my Conjurer to get WHM so far. That and I really like the fairies, aside from their AI that really needs some upgrade so we don't need to control them all the time in certain battles =/

I love controlling my fairy. I love how busy the scholar is as a class. Always doing something.
