Elm logs are harvested in Central Shroud. Maple, Elm, Ash can all be harvested in the Shroud. I'm at 19 BTN and those are on my target list of items I go after to level crafts.

Just unlock BTN on your character and go to town at harvesting points.

Free Company bank. Free Companies are groups of players who've chosen to associate with each other (known as guilds or kinships in some other games). If you join a FC that has a bank for storing and sharing items, and access to it has been opened to you on both of your alts (the FC leader can choose to allow everyone access or restict it to officers, etc.) then you can use that as a place to put items while you switch to your alt to pick them up.

Very very frustrating. Where/ what is the FC bank ??
Elm logs do not, as far as I know, drop from any mob, not even treant types. You must be a Botanist and log them. Most crafting materials that drop from mobs are meats, skins, tendons, horns, animal fibers (like Diremite Webs and Fleece), stuff of that nature. It's actually easier to get stuff through gathering, so I wouldn't moan much about it. It's poor Leatherworker who has to craft from almost exclusively from mob drops that's screwed: his stuff is *hard* to get!

That would be very slow levelling, but attempting I have to admit. Can it be done, are there no restrictions in some way.
Pity you cannot have so much items with you

It's really not that slow. Especially if you farm with the resting bonus. I was just farming cotton at level 19 and averaging 150 exp a boll at 4-5 bolls a point. That's 600-750 exp per node. And that's low exp as I could has been farming a higher level node if I wanted. I was farming cotton since had need for it on Weaver. And if I hit HQ I was getting over 400 for 1 boll. Sometimes I hit a couple HQ per node, which put me at over 1K exp just for 1 node.

    Selling items

Still not knowing which (where) quest I need to sell items.
My bags are full with HQ items. highest lvl warrior (archer) is now 23, Highest lvl of disciple of the Land (Botanist) is now 20 and highest lvl of the hand (Leatherworker) is now 17. What do I have to do to be able to sell items.
I am too low level for hiring a retainer and adviced by NPC to go back to adventurers club. But there are no quest anymore.

Second, I can not make a new thread. My level is too low (?) or I have made another thread today (?). This is the only thread I have made and also the only one I can use atm. (ah well I am still a beginner) . What level restrictings are here for putting a new quest ?

Thanks in advice for the help guys. Especially answers I am looking for are about how to sell items. (and/or use retainers).

    Best regards,
Jalala Samba (lvl 23 archer, lvl 15 carpenter, lvl 11 Black Smith, lvl 17 leather worker, lvl 20 Botanist, lvl 17 Fisher

P.S. what to do with all those fish ? Is there some receipt of "bouillabaisse" perhaps so I can get ride of it

Firstly, you have to hire a retainer before you can sell items on the Market Board (if you've been doing the storyline up to your current level you would have gained this ability - if you're not up to this point and have no idea where you are in the story, check your Journal under 'complete' for Main Scenario and post which quest was the last one you finished, so I have an idea about where you are and to point you in the right direction for the next one.) - there's no way around it otherwise. Retainers are also helpful for storing items and gil as well.

Secondly, there are posting restrictions on the forums based around your character's current level - your in game level dictates how many posts a day you can make and how many new threads you can make (if any). This was an attempt to stop spam posts and threads by new members at the start of service (as during the Beta it became apparent that as more people joined, the more chaotic the forum became, and with all the trolling going on SE thought it was the only way to bring some semblance of order to it). It's possible as time goes on they may lessen these restrictions, but there's no guarantee sadly.

Finally, if you have items you can always sell them to an npc for a small amount of gil (find any npc shop, shown on the map with a bag icon), and when the item window opens up, instead of selecting the shop's merchandise, open your inventory and select the item you want to sell, and click on it. It will then ask you how many you want to sell and after confirming it, it will automatically sell the items for you.

    Hopefully this has helped.

Ah, you're up to the dungeon runs then. Head back to Limsa Lominsa and speak to Baderon at the Limsa Lominsa Adventurer's Guild for the next quest 'It's Probably Pirates', then head out to Western La Noscea to the entrance to Sastasha and speak to the Yellowjacket outside to unlock both the Duty Finder and the dungeon itself. Then use the Duty Finder or create a party manually to enter it and complete it, and the dungeons that come with the storyline quests after it.

Once you've completed all three dungeons (Sastasha, Tam Tara Deepcroft and Copperbell Mines), the storyline will progress you quickly enough to the part where Retainers are unlocked.

Getting from where you are to the point where you get retainers is:

    It's Probably Pirates (Sastasha dungeon)
Call of the Forest (a quick head-to-the-next-area quest sending you from Limsa Lominsa to Gridania)
Fire in the Gloom (Tam-Tara Deepcroft dungeon)
Call of the Desert (another quick head-to-the-next-area quest sending you from Gridania to Ul'dah)
Into a Copper Hell (Copperbell Mines dungeon)
The Scions of the Seventh Dawn (a storyline quest, mostly in cutscenes) <-- This is the one that unlocks retainers.
