    PS3 UI suggestions

I'd like people to suggest things that would make the console UI better.

Currently I love the fact that I can play this game on my couch but some UI issues still feel like they were designed for PC play only.

    -Launcher is not fully visible
-Text size accross the board is WAY too small
-market board history is obscured by the pop up of current item
-The log needs to be set every time to the desired position and the position doesn't get saved
-There's no way to level sync to FATE if your quest log is not visible
-There should be a way to minimize the hotbar even further. After a few hours I'm sure many players learn the controls by heart like in every other console game.
-Pressing the first person view during fishing cancels fishing and it doesn't let you admire the beautiful scenery as you chill out =)

Make us use HOTBARS like on PC. This is the one and only reason im refusing to play on the PS3 (only gather fishing crafting on ps3, the rest on my PC).
A combination of crossbar anbd hotbar 1 is awesome, place all your not so often used skills/spells here. And press them when needed. One example have Protect on hotbar slot 1. You need to stand still to cast it, and it lasts long, hence no biggie taking your right arm of the controller and press button 1.

Don't make me use hotbars! I much prefer crosshotbars on the whole. Optional however, good idea for those who disagree with me.

On my own current list... let's see.

1.) Levelquests and quests with quest items should be accessible from the controller, without using a mouse, or going through the main menu to get to the quest items to click use. With mouse you literally just click the on-screen icon. But with controller it is a pain to get to, and for those in fight items it makes them significantly more complicated than using mouse.

    2) Love my crosshotbars, but it is awkward to switch rapidly between two or three mid fight. (eg I have one bar for emergency items like hi-ether/echo drops), a suggestion would be during mid-fight be able to use say, the triangle button to instead of jump, toggle through a pre-set number if cross bars. This would be a much more natural way to cycle quickly. release L2/R2 and click triangle once or twice.

    3) Enable on screen keyboards for any text entry. Eg: macros, support desk, naming of pets/retainers etc

this honestly feels broken as is. A real keyboard is better, but you can't use elements of the PS3 without one at all right now, and they are important elements at that.

    4) Smaller limit break. It is really hard to fit this on screen three filled without overlapping other items.

    5) enemy/hate list similar problem to limit break. It just keeps overflowing making some enemies impossible to see on it or target that way. This doesn't happen often but it feels clumsy. Perhaps instead maybe limit the size on screen to a max, and then cycling through it would auto-scroll.

    6) this one isnt really a PS3 problem but: auto show party list with pet added, without requiring the party list to always be shown when solo. Drives me crazy having to tab/lose focus on enemy to heal myself or pet instead of up/down arrows. on pc you can resort to mouse focus, but controller it is clumsy to keep playing with targeting.

    7) related to party list again: allow showing other party members pets in party list. There have been times where a summoner/arcanist spends as much time healing as doing damage, even though I have enough MP and time to manage doing both pet and rest of party. I would love to be able to heal their summon as part of my party list. This is something that with a PC is easier if you grab the mouse momentarily, or use a mouse over, but with controller is just clunky since again it involves losing target focus and tab-targeting to select.

    8) retain focus type! If I set my tab focus to friends/party/other whatever, I don't want it to keep resetting to enemies or all!

    9) related to 8 target cycling should have an option to focus on non-party members and pets with health under 100%. In large fates for example, it can be near impossible to cycle through the 50 people/pets/mobs to get to the 3 I am trying to target to heal, without again, resorting to mouse (which is slow and clunky on PS3).

I am sure I have more, but these are the ones that bother me the most right now.

    Adding:

    10) Better instructions integrated for UI. Many things are very hard to figure out, and no in game instructions, or offline manual covers them at this time. Some first-time in quest instructions that are tailored for the PS3 UI would help, having the ability to repeat said instructions upon subsequent quests would also be useful, so long as you could optionally turn them off after the first time once you didn't need them anymore. Right now most instructions that occur are very general, or targeted towards keyboard/mouse use.

Select doesn't work for those on-screen items in fight. It takes much more scrolling through items to actually get to the quest items than to go to the main menu go to quest items and hit use. And either is still clunky.

Square item however is useful sounding. This is not listed in the instructions anywhere however... That I saw. Which brings me to point 10 I added above. Thanks for the tip! I will try this out later and update my list accordingly if it works well.

Regarding R1 cycling battle bars. This is interesting and I will try it out, and update my list if it works like I want. So long as I can stay in battle mode.

    Thanks for the tips.
