And what does our character do? LEAVE HIM FOR DEAD. But hey, lets save Thancred.

Leaving Gaius to die just shows we are not better than them. First I cant join Gaius, then I must leave him behind lol.

Well. Guess thats it. Thoughts?
Saving someone who's innocent and leaving someone "evil" is just the way war is.

You can't question someone morality over reason. We saved Thancred for one reason, he's innocent and wasn't consciously part of any evil scheme. Gaius in the other hand is a "grow-ass man", fully aware in mind and body and took responsibility for his actions. Heck, he didn't even fear for his death and pain the price. How many people in this culture can you point out that has been responsible for their actions.

His is just "my two cents", I'm not expecting you or anyone else to agree or understand. In eastern cultures, challenges were made for the sake of status, fame and honor. Sometimes it was for wealth and respect, everyone knew this and respected tradition and held their honor. Sometimes wars were either fought over honor and political reasons but as patriotic as every can claim they were, it basically loyalty and honor(but that's a different topic, I digress).

Gaius was the captain of his ship and went down with it, no reason to mix Thancred as part of his crew.
