I had the same thing happen to me in Wanderers Palace! some IDIOT archer from the very start trying to tell me "as I'm a tank, to plz be on shield oath (I replied -"don't be pushy") and the reply to that was (I have to be to get this & this) Whatever, I did just fine the way I was (without being carried!).

after that this person proceeded to run way ahead of every one else and do his own pulls regardless of where everyone else was, aaand-
on the last boss (Tonberry King) we wiped thrice and then beat it (my and one others first time as well)-though I studied and watched videos prior-so Ton King has sliver of health left and this IDIOT pulls agro on him and kites him all over hell as I had full health and was about two hits away from win (Really looked like an immature IDIOT with the boss chasing him around like that!)

Of course that display was typical of how this immature Idiot ran the whole dungeon, and then insulted me at the end- (I Reported his ass and 1 other for harassment "with details").

While I generally agree with you "Don't tell other people how to play their jobs", you have to remember, this isn't a one class per person game. Many people, including myself, have multiple level 50s. I myself have 50 Paladin and 50 Warrior. E.g. I was in titan hm in DF because my Warrior needs it and the pld in there was losing hate so I gave him advice on rotation. That's not because I think I'm awesome, but because I have a paladin too, and I don't lose hate on Titan on either.

Unless you highly overgear the content you're doing (and it doesn't look like you do), not using Shield Oath is sort of rude to the rest of your group. Shield Oath makes you take less damage and hold hate better, in exchange for less DPS, and DPS isn't your primary job in the first place.

I'd call you an idiot as well. You are freaking tank, use your tanking skills.

What you did was extremely selfish, served no purpose, and forced your healer to carry you. Stay on Phoenix please, we don't need more of your kind in Midgard.

Yeah MMOs are terrible now, because the "Casual" player population has skyrocketed and they all expect the "Hardcore" population to carry them and give them free progression/gear.

"Hardcore" = Puts time and effort into learning a class and playing it well.
"Casual" = Puts minimum amount of time into the game and expects everyone else to work harder to make up for their bad play.

This game is easy, anyone who can't spend 15 minutes on a guide post or accept constructive criticism should really stick to single player games. I will admit that some people do deliver "advice" in a mean way, but most of us "Hardcore" meanies do give nice and constructive criticism, if people don't accept it then it's their own fault for being ridiculed/excluded.

The only real difference between hardcore and casual is time spent. A casual player can understand the game as much any hardcore.

There are people who don't know how to play in both camps.

If you ever lost hate on something, then quite possibly yes. Hate control is actually more demanding on trash than on bosses, usually.

In a good group where everyone attacks the proper targets and you have a skilled tank, it doesn't matter and you can probably use Sword Oath, but in a Duty Finder group...I'd probably never risk it.

Your a tank. A PALADIN tank no less. Your DPS is less handy than my DPS as a scholar. There is one boss in the game where it's reasonable to go into Sword Oath - Demon Wall....who has no aggro mechanic.

To answer your question, yeah it's a bad idea and you are a bad tank.

Considering it barely gives you ANY power, yes. It only increases your Auto Attack damage, nothing more. Does nothing for the rest of your skills.
