Playing on PC, looking for a decent gamepad/controller.

doesnt surprise me, cuz if I played with a controller is would need more buttons so I could do more than one hotbar of macros without the bother of switching them

That's the Snakebyte one we've been talking about, just sold by a reseller on the Amazon EU site.
12 Buttons plus 12 Axis = 24 commands, plus another 12 for the Function buttons. You can easily set it up to do three full rows of macros and still have plenty of room left for Camera Control and Movement.

(Incidentally, this is the exact reseller I purchased from, and the pad worked for less than a month before giving out on me. Thankfully Amazon are taking it back)

I'm fine with just using MotionInJoy, once you learn how to setup profiles its very easy to switch between 360 and PS3 controllers. When gathering (when I was able to play still before all this 401/601 nonsense) I would always switch out to my controller.

Using a basic 360 wired controller for my PC, it's plug and play and oddly enough XIV has button icons for the 360 controller
