    YOU CAN'T HAVE MY CROWN!!!

I have loved how paladin armor has looked ever since FFXI, and this game is no different. The Gallant/Valor set in both 11 and this game are some of my favorite armor sets in any MMO's, and the main reason why I'm playing paladin. I even slightly gimped my gear progression just to get more Valor. My first myth buy was Valor chest, in part because I can't stand the darklight lack of neck, and because I love the way the Valor chest looks. I now also have both Valor head and gloves, so that my upper body at least is full paladin. Instead, I probably should have plused my shield/weap, but thems the price of beauty.

Specifically, in regards to the crown, I like it and similar helms because I actually get to see my chars face. I spent all that time customizing my character, so I prefer the minimal head pieces when possible.

Ironically the more concealing Darklight set would be less practical in real life than the paladin set with its crown. In fact the insane restriction on mobility and vision it would impose on the wearer would probably make it the least useful set of any of the tank gear sets. The enemy would merely need to sneak up, push you down and game over (both tasks easy being you'd barely be able to see or keep your balance in that absurd thing ).

You know, I've joked in the past that people who play tanks have attention-seeking problems, but you've taken that idea on to the next level. XD

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I love the design for the Darklight heavy armor, but it's awful that you can't move your head in it. It's impractical. In a world of suspended disbelief, who in their right mind would wear armor that won't even allow them to look at their intended target?! If you could move your head in it, OR allow hiding the helmet, I would wear it again. That crested helm is badass.

Actually judging by how thick that armor looks i think you would be fine. plate armor made knights practically invincible, sure there are open spots at the joints but the guy in the armor isn't just gonna let you stab him.

I love the look or Paladin AF armor as well, hence why I'm wearing it. The crown is the one exception. I don't want a crow. I'm not a pretty little elf or a an androgynous manchild. As for the people talking about how impractical Darklight is, who mentioned Darklight? Darklight is hideous and terribly impractical armor, hence why I try my best not to wear it!

I call shenanigans. We have rabbit ears on our DF which allow us in many situations to lower our entire torso (since we can't lower our heads in a 1 piece armor) and charge. Charging with those rabbit ears pointed forward = serious danger. Ergo totally practical....

I passed that garbage up weeks ago. I'm in AF2, son! And Darklight armor isn't how I want to look, either. Dark armor doesn't suit a Paladin at all. And wearing a helmet attached to a piece of body armor is tantamount to suicide. A helmet must allow you to turn your head.
