    Dream Big

Dream Big, SE. That's the best advice we can give you.

I know alot of people suggest ideas that they have seen in other games. But realise that those features which we have seen in other games are usually diluted versions of an original big dream.

Every day, technology advances, and with this comes the ability to come closer and closer to realising dreams. To fall back to the status quo is to ignore the progress made in the industry (progress made solely in order to help realise bigger dreams).

Features we see today in MMOs are pale imitations of developers' original ambitious visions. Even the best games are ones which have been made with compromise; concessions made due to technical limitations.

Pioneering is always harder work, but pays off in the end.

You can't out-run your opponent by playing catch up.

So you saying for SE to take there time dream big and release everything better then they could? if so then i agree playing catch up is not really a good plan but also i don't want this game to become a wow-clone. even how hard they try to make it a new system it still be a copy.

What I suggest is for SE to dispel all notions of other games from their minds and develop an MMO from there.

A system cannot be a copy if it is not copied from something.

Isn't that what got them in this mess in the first place?

No that isn't what got them into this mess in the first place. In fact, that's what made their game even marginally redeemable.

As they say, "Bad artists copy, great artists steal." But I agree, them trying to be different isn't what got them into this mess. I mean, it did in a manner that they wanted to do something new and some of it wasn't acceptable. It was attributed partially to a player base that simply didn't want change; regardless of the fact that in many of the pre-release videos, they clearly stated they didn't want to make FF11-2. They said, there would be those who love 11, and there would be those who like 14 and there will be those who enjoy both. It wasn't the player's fault either. Not all change is good. I've heard far too many times the line "Why can't <insert unapproved game concept> be just like FF11's?" This was only half the problem. There was plenty that wasn't fleshed out properly. I personally feel that since Square had so many titles in development, 14 was simply low priority to them. Especially after some of the backlash they got from 13. While I was in Alpha, me and my friend found that there was a high quantity of people that above all else wanted something similar to WOW's Amory ap for the iphone. It seemed many during beta and alpha got into some kind of mind set that Square had things taken care of. Sure they'd mention weird glitches in things, but it seemed like there was a lot of "Oh...no chocobos? It's just beta/alpha. I'm sure it'll be in final release."

It wasn't the desire to be different. It was the lack of follow through from all sides. Basically my point would be that what it took us to force them to listen to us should have happened in the Beta. Both sides messed up. But I guess we couldn't help it much. Why would they care during beta, unless they got an ungodly wave of "shits' gonna suck on release".
