I remember ArenaNet started banning people and everyone was innocent. "ArenaNet is just banning whomever they like!" was the charge.

So ANet did an AMA on Reddit. All players had to do was give their character name and ask why they were banned.

    The replies....omg....the replies we're priceless.

I think some stuff is legitimate. Probably the money that was earned into the system is marked and removed. Whomever happened to be holding that money is seeing it taken. Nothing personal, but a very Austerity measure way of handling the situation for sure.
They def need to do something about the botters.

The irony is that most of the people actually giving the responses, saw how stupid the bans were and that tech started fixing it right there and then.

    Remember the exodus?

I have a few friends stuck in the middle of this...Definitely is a legitimate issues but, ultimately it's pointing out how "the west" handles customer service...Which is: Very badly.

If the CS continues as it is, I'll be unsubbing as well. I don't pay $15/month for random banning and 0 GM support...Just doesn't work that way.

Something is only worth what the next idiot is willing to pay.

Many of the first crafters priced things at X (overpriced and beyond) then person Y bought Gil to afford X thus, causing a bloated market and more inflation...So this is actually a very real and understandable situation considering the people it's effected.

    A majority?

If this game had the same support Rift did or EQ...I'd even take GW2 at this point, they'd have significantly more success than they do now...Bleh.

Personally I think its all a big giant loop. There have been good points raised on this thread on both sides of the coin. Myself, I wasn't hit with any fines/tempbans but I also didn't try to make money.

I can see how the first crafter on any of the new servers would rake in lots of money. Just synthing the relic weapons alone would account for a good amount of gil generation. And you know those who are rushing endgame will pay that 200k (whatever they earned getting to 50) to be the first/one of the first to hold their relic in their respective servers. Add to the fact that those players will then turn around and sell the 2star mats to fund their other gear needs, and you get a good turn around in cash.

I don't think you can blame the crafter for doing those synths, taking that cash in, and turning to buy those materials to make bigger stuff. The crafters want to be the 1st to be able to craft those high end items also. Worlds first still work in crafters eyes also. I don't believe blame should be placed on the crafters because the is a very legimitate plausable explination for how they made their gil. As a crafter I placed many things on the market for prices much higher than I beleived they were worth. Some sold, most did not. I just lowered those prices and waited patiently until things began to sell and could guage where the market really stood.

I understand the side of the logic that people use to say: "the game is new, there shouldn't be that much gil available." It should not fall to any player, In my opinion, to know how much money is available. For all a crafter knows, an end game FC pooled their funds to better gear their main tank, or healer, to give them a better chance to complete content quickly. The race was on for all of that.

I keep hoping through all of this, that SE has more ammo in their deck than they are letting on. I keep hoping that the things I have read are untrue, and they have concrete evidence to show that somewhere along the line those players did something they know to be against the EULA and that we are only seeing those trying to smear SE repeating their claims. I keep hoping, and based on the past, I think that is all I'll ever have is hope, because if past trends hold true, nobody will ever come out and prove anything. It will all just be a wildfire until it burns itself out. Burnt players will abandon ship, the playerbase will decline until only the loyals remain, and then it will all be a "remember when."

If you were unjustly hit with these events, I am sorry for you. If you were justly hit with these events, and then come here complaining, I hope karma revisits you. Only you will know the honest truth of your actions.

I would go bat shit insane before I made it to 250.

So like I said, I know it's possible, but what back breaking, grindy method did you execute to acquire such wealth.

You don't have to endlessly grind dungeons to make gil. If a crafter makes 4 items that will make them an average of 20k each, then those items will make them 80k once they sell. If a crafter fills their retainer slots with the maximum 40 items and those items sell for an average of 20k each, then once those items sell they will make 800k once they sell. Factor in that at launch, there's a high number of items being bought and sold due to people leveling their classes and buying up whatever they like with whatever money they have, and it's not tough to see how the first crafters and gatherers could sell hundreds upon hundreds of items. Everyone knows about the people who join a new MMO and rushes their combat job to 50, endlessly raids and gets decked out in a week. While they're off doing that, crafters are crafting, and gatherers are gathering. They may not be standing the middle of town with their weapon out to show everyone how cool they are with their relic +1, but they still exist and they can be quite effective at what they do, and it's no more or less legitimate than the actions of anyone else in the game.

I dunno. I call BS on how 'innocent' a lot of the people complaining are. The suspensions themselves were pretty unfortunate, and I think people should be compensated for that. However, I have multiple people in my FC that had substantial amounts of gil, and were suspended, but none of them lost anything aside from time. It seems to me that the people who lost their Gil were, in some way, connected to the Gil sellers or botting.

If throwing something up on the market and selling it at an inflated price was illegal, than we might as well arrest Mark Zuckerberg for Facebook's IPO launch.

Many of the people that had Gil taken were innocent. They just played the market.

It really doesn't matter who was innocent or not...What DOES matter is the lack of customer service involved in the matter.

Those that are disputing the ban are caught in a ridiculously inefficient catch 22 with SE's CS debacle and there are more bots running around now, than there ever were previously while those that were innocently persecuted are still being strung along.

Though I understand what you say, it still worries me.

I do a bit of everything in game, but on my server, Gilgamesh, the prices for shards and materials like aldgoat skins are going through the roof. I mean .. insanely. 10+ stacks of 99 aldgoat skins all sold by the same person ... I will not touch. Now I am sure there are some people who just turn on some music and go to town. But botters are rampant on Gilgamesh now. I've seen them and reported tons. I've seen them stand in one spot and wipe out aldgoats barely blinking (there is NO WAY they are not bots as a human reaction time cannot be split second casting).

I get most of my materials myself as I am self sufficient as I can be. I sell my items at fairly low/reasonable prices, putting materia on them to help me practice understand how it works.

I put 7 Fang Earrings up on the market yesterday, HQ with materia, for 300gil.

The same person bought all 7 of them. Which I found quite strange since one only has one earring slot.

    So that leaves me thinking.

** If that was a RMT/botter who bought my earrings, am I now going to get banned because I have ZERO CONTROL over who bought my items? ... because alot of arguments in here seem to say "it's the crafter's fault on who buys what". **

    Well, that would be special.

I never have more than 30k to my name. I always use it up fast making items and buying gear for my FC and friends. I never sell my items more than what I feel is right in regards to materials/time and level of the item (pricing a level 15 earring for 5k gil is stupid).

I dont want them to tell you ANYTHING because I dont want the goldsellers to KNOW A DAMNED THING ABOUT HOW THEY ARE BEING CAUGHT.

That is where we stand, you want answers and its understable but giving you those answers comprimises the future endevours of SE to rid of us of real problems.

End of conversation, for whatever reason you were caught exploiting a broken market, either innocently or intentionally and now you pay the price whether you deserve to or not.
    This is .. interesting.

So you are saying if you were banned, and you had no reason why because you knew you did nothing wrong, you would be more than happy to take the ban, lose gil, and just go on your merry way?

Dear god man, I soooo want what you are smoking! Because it is human nature to find out -why- something happened.

I would like to see the mails people are receiving from bans/suspensions, because a few have commented in a part where is says "these are the logs" (ad lib) they are LEFT BLANK. How in hell do you do an investigation then have no proof??

So you say even knowing privately is bad? I am sooo confused. Please, come back to us and tell us how happy you are if this happens. I'll even screenshot and link this post for you.

That's because Square Enix did a stupid move and dropped the ball. They said out in public how they were handling things.

So the fault is more the game company than anything.

It is more sad that they did not have ways in place when the game came out like tons of other MMOs have before. It is like they didn't do their research on western markets or something.

I am behind that people do need to report each time they see spam or botting. If the form doesn't work at the time, write the info down. There is actually another form to use outside the game. Here is the link to it: https://support.na.square-enix.com/f...=5382&la=1&p=0
