    New player need some info

Hi. So i just started FFXIV and I need some clarification on a few topics.

1 - How many gathering/crafting professions can you learn and use at once

2 - What is the best crafting profession for a future Black Mage? Is the end game crafted gear worth it?

3 - Should I level up my main class to 50 first and then get a "job". For example I am a THM and my plan is to become Black Mage. From what I understand I need lvl30 THM + lvl15 Archer. So should I just level up my THM to 50 and then work on the archer etc or switch to Archer at THM 30?

4 - Is there a way to skip all those annoying, no voice over cutscenes you get when you accept 80% of the quests?

There is probably a lot more stuff I'd like to know but I can't think of anything right now. If you think something else is worth mentioning to a new player please do . Thanks

    Hi ^^

    1 - All of them
2 - Everything is useful but Weaver allows you to make most of your clothes but to be honest for first class/job the story and additional quests should be enough to equip yourself.
3 - At 30 you can do your job quest. Jobs and Class level at same time so just become a BLM at level 30.
    4 - No. Click/press button quickly...

Thank you for the quick response. One more thing I'd like to know more about is those Grand Companies? When do I get to join one and which one should I choose? Are there any benefits from being in one etc etc?

    hey...

from my exp: GC have no much difference among themself. You can join one once you hit level 20 (in your story, no grinding) meaning once u defeat a certain boss (trying no to spolied it for you )
depending which one you join you can get different gear. the gear is suppose to have different stat, eg i choose the adder bc is suppose to be more for mage, flame i think is more for tanks.. but imho they are bad, so is just which one you want to have as a collection in ur closet.
main benefits are the extra quest you get, the supply quest for ur crafting and gathering classes are pretty neat..

here you can read more details http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Grand_Companies

    hope that helps

The companies provide gear for all classes, so just pick whichever one you like for whatever reason, be it color, ideology, etc.

While the stats on items between GCs do differ between them, they are largely the same, and you're gonna replace all the gear you get from your GC anyway so in the long run it doesn't matter. All the important things are universal across all GCs, so pick the one that appeals the most to you.

I highly recommend you level weaver first along side with botony. Those two jobs go hand in hand and will limit the amount of money you spend leveling up. Get THM to 30 and work on sub class to 15 so you can unlock blm AT 30. YOU CAN skip cut scenes by hitting escape twice on PC version and confirm with a yes when prompt.

Have to agree about goldsmith. You can level them all and use the cross class abilities to HQ any item.

As a Black mage I personally leveled up Goldsmith to 50 and Weaver is closed. That's all you need for crafting most of your gear. Also miner would help for crystals and plenty of material. Those classes can get VERY expensive to level up, but they have the advantage of self crafting the items. Most Weaver clothes are made by the Weaver for example.

Also you should level up to lvl 15 at least Culinarian and Alchemist for the cross class skills. It takes a short while, the only issue is that they mess up the inventory. And that takes ages to manage because the lack of a sort option.
