Way to miss the point. The discussion isn't the fact i have to start over it's the fact I am locked into it for 30 real world days (Which is a bloody long time to force anyone to do anything against their will, in a game we're meant to be playing for entertainment). Now while you mgith argue "realism" - if a new recruit walks into a recruitting office and then says "actually, change of plan I'm not joining afterall", they don't drag you into boot camp and force you to stay until you are a non-commisioned officer - they'd boot you back out the door and tell you to stop wasting their time.
Closer to after you sign the paperwork and then state you changed your mind, they won't care and will still take you to boot camp.
