there always been an halloween event, and they never did an event for their obon. The only japanese festivity they put in the game it's the Kodomo no hi, the children holyday in May.Japanese company.
Halloween isn't a big celebration there, and their version of it is July-ish i think.
They also have a different version of Thanksgiving(since they don't care about native americans and pilgrims...) so i wouldn't expect much of an event there even though they have a similar version.
Christmas is the next major holiday i expect an event for, not including any fictional ones they add in game for lore. But I'll gladly accept any they decide to make even if they don't matter to anyone in the world except americans that want everyone to celebrate the same holidays.
I love events!! ♥
But I don't expect 2-3 to already be active when the game has only been out 1.5 months or so, and many players couldn't even log in for the first week.
I really hope we get something in time for Halloween though!
For the record, here's the different holiday events they had in 1.0. I think it'd be reasonable to expect that most or all of them will return in ARR:
Chinese New Year (Heavensturn)
Valentine's Day (Valentione's Day)
Little Girls' Day (Little Ladies' Day)
Easter (Hatching-tide)
Summer Event (Firefall/Moonfire Faire)
FFXIV Anniversary (Foundation Day)
Halloween (All Saints' Wake)
Christmas (Starlight Celebration)
It doesn't seem like we'll be getting Foundation Day this year, but aside from that, I think we can expect most of these to return.
It's only been out for a month or so. And not only that but there's been a slew of problems.
Honestly, I'd rather they work on the problems then give events.
I like events yes, but I like a game that works more.
It'd be nice to have the /snowball emote back for a bit.
I've always looked forward to holiday events, even if they can be done quickly. I just like collecting stuff.
FFXI had Halloween Festivals every year. The game has barely been live for over a month, and we're still in the first week of October. You want "two or three events" within that time?
There will be Halloween and Christmas events, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a Thanksgiving event. (Thanksgiving, as celebrated in November, is purely an American holiday.)
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Are you actually comparing the number of events between a newly released MMO and one that has been out for over 10 years?
There also seem to be Cherry confetti (Dance of the Five Petals event) in MB list. I wouldn't mind cherry blossom viewing event at all, if that's what it is.For the record, here's the different holiday events they had in 1.0. I think it'd be reasonable to expect that most or all of them will return in ARR:
Chinese New Year (Heavensturn)
Valentine's Day (Valentione's Day)
Little Girls' Day (Little Ladies' Day)
Easter (Hatching-tide)
Summer Event (Firefall/Moonfire Faire)
FFXIV Anniversary (Foundation Day)
Halloween (All Saints' Wake)
