30 days grand company lock in - A cautionary tale.

When the recruitment guy tells me I'm locked into my grand company for 30 days, is he talking about in game days, or real world days?

Because, I've barely played the game for 30 days, a whole real world month is a huge time investment for something that has no warning whatsoever. I don't really want to be locked into my new GC for 30 days, I don't want to be locked into it at all.

    To explain...

I started out Immortal Flames - and today, I finally unlocked the ability to transfer. I decided I'd go with Twin Adder for a while and try to get their chocobo barding (which is super ossum), the recruitment guy explains if i transfer I won't be able to use my Immortal Flame gear, but that's no big deal I only plan to stick around long enough to get the barding and be gone - then I can switch to Maelstrom and be with my free company buddies. However I quickly find you can only equip barding for your active company anyway, and I can't be bothered ranking a second company to Lt to unlock the ability to use my iLvl 55 gear, in fact the whole thing seems to be more effort than it's worth. So i go back to the Immortal Flame office.

The recruitment officer then tells me "Oh hey, didn't you just change company/ - We can't file another transfer for another 30 days".

    ...what?

Don't you think that might've been something you should've told me in advance, because compared to not being able to use my old company gear, this is a pretty big deal - gamechanging in fact (I'd never have switched if I'd known that). I'd like to ask for a transfer back but, if the GM's can't be bothered to ban bots, and support doesn't want to take peoples subscriptions I suspect I'm doomed to be stuck with the Tree Hugger Corps until 2.1...

You've been warned! - If you switch Grand Company, you're there for a full month!

Yeah let's reward you for being dis-loyal. You're like that person on Jerry Springer who cheats on his other, and expects to be let back in right away.

Guess you didn't pay attention to the ending cut-scene and why the grand companies are now accepting transfers ¬_¬ (Not to mention i just saved Eorzea, they should cut me some slack )

Considering I just spent a month in a grand company I decided I didn't want to be in (All my friends are in maelstrom), do I really need to spend another month, and start all over again?

If you Leave your military in your country, and go to another country and become a citizen and then join their military you start over.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Way to miss the point. The discussion isn't the fact i have to start over it's the fact I am locked into it for 30 real world days (Which is a bloody long time to force anyone to do anything against their will, in a game we're meant to be playing for entertainment). Now while you mgith argue "realism" - if a new recruit walks into a recruitting office and then says "actually, change of plan I'm not joining afterall", they don't drag you into boot camp and force you to stay until you are a non-commisioned officer - they'd boot you back out the door and tell you to stop wasting their time.

Closer to after you sign the paperwork and then state you changed your mind, they won't care and will still take you to boot camp.
