No lol, no it's not. I take newbies through there all the time.
Blue > Purple / White > Yellow / Green
Decent dps, follow that order, and kite properly and you'll always win
So you're saying that players need item level 60 weapons to defeat a dungeon that drops item level 55 gear/weapon? /chuckle
You don't "need" a good weapon or good gear for this zone. You just gotta know how to play your class and do your rotation/priorities correctly. Understanding the how the encounters work helps tremendously. Gear/weapon checks don't come into play until Titan and Coil of Bahamut.
You could have your relic weapon and still not beat the DPS check if your DPS just flat out sucks.
PS. It's been over a month since I've been in there (because there's really no reason to go back) but on 2nd boss, we really didn't focus the adds in any particular order. We just burned them down one by one and boss was just about dead right when the first blue add spawned.

Honestly WP is my favorite dungeon in the game. Somewhat decent tomestones, boss fights (except the first one, way too easy) are fun, and getting stalked by the tonberry stalker gives me some laughs XD. It sucks though cause no one in my FC wants to do it cause they say "tonberry king is too hard" and df takes too long DX
thats strange i did this multiple times without fail in my AF with a level 45 weapon and with level 30-40 rings
Just wonder why everyone says its something special, me and my friends (full premade groupe) can do it as fresh 50ths on first try without any preparations (mostly 45-47 purple weapons and stuff, hell our tank havent even necklace and rings) , just folow basics " dont stay at fire " , "stay at green stuff" , "if you had mark run from others" etc...
We made this with pld and war (yes 2 tanks) and the final boss was a really piece of cake (we didn't kill any spawning tonberries lol).
Very nice dungeon though.
I had no real issues with wandering palace. None of my group had Ifrit weapons. We mostly were wearing Aurum Vale gear.
We did wipe twice on last boss, then won once we split the dds so that one focused on adds other focused on boss.

Just did this one a couple times tonight. It is a pretty straight forward place.
The three bosses just have some basic competency checks in them.
First one is if healer knows how to status remove, 2nd one is able to do a kill order on the fly and if people know how to kite, last one is just add/mechanic management.
Actually I dont think final boss is a dps race. The tonberries seem to spawn at intervals of the boss' health, so heavy dps can make the fight more chaotic. I did the fight with 3 players once, I was the only dps, and it was super easy because the tonberries weren't spawning back to back.
Actually, once the big ones spawn around the edges...it is a DPS race. They start moving in on a timer and you die when they reach the center(like how they work in other FF games).Actually I dont think final boss is a dps race.
