    [Suggestion] Kokeshi Wars

Well, right now FFXIV lacks of pretty much everything...and so does regarding mingames. Since this game does not have a minigame still and wouldn't be very nice using older ones, i decided to suggest a new one. The idea is to make a tactics-like board minigame so players can play, collect, buy, sell and, if they're crafters, even craft their pieces.

The idea is simple: You have a 10x10 board and start with a "Hero" Kokeshi. The objective is to beat the opponent's hero kokeshi.

    The Kokeshis:

Each kokeshi will have 5 HP and a set number of stars that indicates its role. The King kokeshi, though, will have deal an extra 1 damage when it attacks.

    Now the star classes!

    King kokeshi
    Rank *****
    Damage: ****
    Movement: *
    Range: *
The king kokeshi is your bodyguard. Its very slow but very strong. The 5 stars Hero kokeshi is the only piece capable of doing one hit KO in the game.

    Soldier kokeshi
    Rank ****
    Damage: ***
    Movement: **
    Range: *
The soldier kokeshi is the average piece every team is made. Can deal good damge, is faster than king kokeshi and often can be useful.

    Hunter kokeshi
    Rank ***
    Damage: **
    Movement: ***
    Range: **
The hunter kokeshi is a tricky piece. It deals small damage, but can move very fast and use ranged attacks to strike from safe distance, mining the opponent team.

    Assassin kokeshi
    Rank **
    Damage: *
    Movement: ****
    Range: ***
This is a must have piece for a succefull team. With tremendous speed and range, it can usually run around the field dealing the finishing blow to already hurt kokeshis.

    Worker kokeshi
    Rank *
    Damage:*
    Movement: *
    Range: *
These are the tactical kokeshis. Worker kokeshis aren't meant to fight. They can attack, but they are weak and slow. The role of them is of major importance, though, since they can have multiple effects.

    Starting the game:

Each player will have a kokeshi pool with 20 kokeshis without more than 2 replicas of a same kokeshi. The hero kokeshi (can be any kokeshi other than worker kokeshis) will be chosen by each player's from his own Kokeshi pool and, after that, each player will pick 4 kokeshis from foe's pool and send them to field pool. Each hero kokeshi then is placed at opposite sides of the board, being the tile it will be placed chosen by each player (it can be placed at center, at corners or anywhere the player desires.)

When it start, each player can play one action with every kokeshi he has on field (up to 5 kokeshis, including the hero kokeshi). The action can be a basic action or, if possible, one of the actions specific of that kokeshi.

When a kokeshi is attacked, it receives the damage, lowering its HP by that amount. If the HP reaches 0, the kokeshi is removed from field and sent to field pool. The player who defeated that kokeshi can, then, choose a kokeshi from field pool and add it to his kokeshi pool (it can be any kokeshi at pool, no matter the side it came).

    The basic actions:

-Move: Each kokeshi can move at board the same number of tiles as the number of stars its rank has at movement.
-Attack: Each kokeshi can attack any opponent kokeshi in range. The attack range is the same number of tiles as the number of stars its rank has at range and the damage dealt is the same as the number of stars its rank has at damage.

    The hero actions:

-Summon: The hero kokeshi can use this action to summon a friendly kokeshi from your kokeshi poll and add it in an adjascent tile of it. The kokeshi that will be summoned with this action is randomly chosen.
-Revive: the hero kokeshi can only use it while under the effect of "Rescuer". The player can choose and summon a kokeshi from field pool to a tile adjascent to hero kokeshi.

    The worker actions:

-Summon: The hero kokeshi can use this action to summon a friendly kokeshi from your kokeshi poll and add it in an adjascent tile of it. The kokeshi that will be summoned with this action is randomly chosen.
-Build: Workers kokeshi can build walls in the fiels. Each wall can have 3 tiers and each action can increase the wall in 1 tier. You can only build up to 2 walls of same tier at adjascent tiles.
    a) Wall I: It will increase the movement cost by 1 from anyone willing to pass thru it. Since King Kokeshi has movement 1, it will be blocked by a a Wall I.
    b) Wall II: It can only be built in a tile where you already have a Wall I active. It will increase the movement cost by 2 and block any ranged attacks thru it. It will block the movement from king kokeshis and soldier kokeshis.
    c) Wall III: It can only be built in a tile where there already is a wall II built. It will increase the movement cost by 3 and block any ranged attack thru it. Only assassin kokeshis aren't blocked by this Wall.

    Worker effect actions:

Each worker kokeshi can have one of these actions at its list.

-Messeger: This kokeshi can be destroyed by the effect of this action, allowing its owner to send it to field pool and to bring a kokeshi from field pool to his kokeshi pool.
    - Healer: This kokeshi can be destroyed by this way, healing all kokeshis in range by 2 HP.
-Ambusher: This kokeshi can be ddestroyed by the effect of this action, forcing the opponent player to send a random kokeshi from his kokeshi pool to field pool.
-Trapper: This kokeshi can be destroyed by the effect of this action, removing a opponent kokeshi in its range (the owner of this kokeshi choses the target if there's more than one. Hero kokeshi cannot be target of this action). After this the, owner of this kokeshi picks a kokeshi at field pool and brings it to his kokeshi poll and then the opponent do the same.
-Grenadier: This kokeshi can be destroyed by the effect of this action, removing any wall in adjascent tiles of it.
-Rescuer: This kokeshi canbe destroyed by the effect of this action, also forcing a random kokeshi from its owner's pool to be sent to field pool. After this, the hero kokeshi receives the action "Revive", that allows the owner to choose a kokeshi from field pool and summon it in an adjascent tile of it.
-Reinforcement: This kokeshi can be destroyed by the effect of this acttion, allowing its owner then to bring 2 kokeshis from field pool back to his kokeshi pool.

    The teams:

Each kokeshi pool, as already said, is composed of 20 kokeshis. Its up to each player to build his team in any way he wants as soon as there's no more than 2 replicas of a same kokeshi in the team.

To obtain new kokeshis, the player can buy them at MW or baazars or can gamble buying a kokeshi booster. Each DoH class can craft a diferent kind of booster, with each booster containing a different set of kokeshis. Each booster would be an usable item that would turn into 2 random kokeshis of that set (the set sizes and rarity is up to SE to decide.)

    The boosters:

Here some suggestions of themes and names for boosters. This way not only the players would have alot to collect but also alot to craft.

Alchemist: Ninja Theme: The Poison Booster
Armorer: Knight Theme. The Buckler Booster
Blacksmith: Pirate Theme. The Bronze Booster
Cooking: Food Theme. The Ginger Booster
Goldsmithing: Explorer Theme. The Sphene Booster
Leatherworker: Barbarian Theme. The Sheep Booster
Weaver: Royalty Theme. The Hempen Booster
Woodworker: Fairy Theme: The Maple Booster

This is the suggestion. long as hell but i believe its intersting and simple enough to be implemented as a ingame feature instead of an outside minigame like Tetra Master was. Comments plz! ^^

Finally found your post and read it!

It's an interesting idea, and reminds me of the old game Archon : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archon:...t_and_the_Dark

While I fully support your idea, and would like to see interesting things such as this get folded into FFXIV, I personally have been trying to wrack my brain for a way to make the crafting and gathering class play experience more interesting and varied.

Since there is no party dynamic for crafting and gathering classes, a large part of the MMO experience IMHO is missing. I've been searching for a multiplayer cooperative-type puzzle that would be appropriate for crafting, but so far haven't found anything.

Not a fan of the idea myself, it sounds boring, but very nicely explained and laid out, but wouldn't entertain me for more than a few moments at the most.

    Sorry.

Indeed. Tactics games aren't for everyone. My sister also just hate this kind of game. But assuming FF has a "tactics branch" i believe going this derection might be the best approach for a FF minigame. ^^

Also, i'm a lover of card/board games so i can't be helped looking foward to this kind of minigames =P

I really hope they add a card game. Pankration was really lame, and it always seems they want to add the classiest most complicated stuff, instead of stuff that is just fun.

If FFXIV gets triple triad though, im subbing for life
