More fishing content?

First of I'd just like to say that I love fishing.
I've pretty much focused on it for a week now and to my surprise have gotten all the way to almost 30 now in a really short time.


I do like that there are the logs to fill but there's one thing I kinda worry about.
It's that I'm soon at the level cap and beyond the log Fishing will be only good for farming after that.

It's not that I hate farming (who hates gil anyway), but I hope there's more content for end-game fishing in the future.


Even something like a totally new log for quotas of each fish would be nice (like 10 hq copper trouts to unlock an achievement and a 3k gil reward or something).

I'm sure the community would come up with plenty of better ideas than mine how to expand the experience through leves and FATEs too.

My ultimate hope would be for Fishing to become something that you could always do to work towards SOME goal in between killing things and not feel like it's a waste of time.

FISHING TOURNAMENTS!!!

The victor of this fishin tournament is based on how big you're catch is and the rewards vary.

You have 2 modes.

Solo mode compete against NPCs for unique rewards separate from Competition mode. Such as Unique gears, weapons, and items.

Competition mode to compete with other players for unique rewards.

I just want more fish and fishing spots. Even rarer fish if possible. Don't make fishing into pvp.

Ya, other MMOs have weekly fishing tournaments too. You can spend a whole weeks time to prepare the best epic quality bait.

Some people may want to lynch me for saying this, but I'd like to see a FFXIV version of Zaldon.
An NPC that can cut open specific fish and retrieve random (rare) items, materials or small amounts of gil from them.

Aside from that, some PVP content for fishing is nothing I am against either.
Something like a weekly or monthly match that involves catching a certain type of fish and the people that caught the top 3 or 5 largest that month gets something silly, in the way of furnishing for the Free Company houses like a taxidermised version of the fish you can hang on one of the walls for example.
