Advertisement Shouts

This is specifically related to Non-RMT Advertisement shouts that are now being thrown around in game.

I would like to know if these are even allowed? There are people shouting advertisements about their Podcast Website now. I am pretty sure that I have not seen this in any MMO, not even WoW and I'm pretty sure it's not tolerated. People are subscribing to this game and we should not be forced to deal with advertisements in game.

From the end user's license agreement:

2.3 Commercial Use. You may not exploit the Game for any commercial purpose (for example, advertising any product or service in-game, or use by the operator of a cyber café) without Square Enix’s prior written consent.

2.8 Commercial Spamming/Spimming. You may not use (or abuse) the in-game chat and message services to distribute advertisements.

Nope, they may not advertise those things either.
Just report them.

What kind of adverts are we talking about? Are people advertising for real life stuff, or are you talking about the "Join my FC" and "WTS Titan" kind of shouting..? O_o

They are advertising their Podcast website, which exists outside the game.

Why would you even be complaining about somebody advertising their podcast? More than likely if they're advertising it IN ARR then it has something to do WITH ARR. If they're not trying to sell something in the real world or make some sort of profit I don't see the issue other than it seeming like you just want to complain about something.

Why don't you go report the idiots who sit and spam emotes repeatedly over and over in various zones instead. THAT would be a good use of your time.

I generally just put them on ignore and move on. *shrug* but the OP asked about the ToS.

That was directed at the OP, my apologies. I do get where he's coming from, but it just seems like an odd thing to get so up in arms over. As for the spammers, I blacklist them as well. Guess I just have an issue with actual spammers in general. XD

This is completely hypocritical and people who advertise their podcasts are making some kind of money due to website hits.

If you agree they should be allowed to advertise their website, then RMT shouts should also be allowed to do this. Because on a technicality, the RMT's shouting their website is not against the EULA if this were the case, the only thing that would be against the EULA is the cheating/selling of gil through their characters in game.

I don't want advertisements in my game, RMT or otherwise. This is why Adblock exists on the internet and I don't watch Television because I don't want to see advertisements. It's that simple.
