8 or 9/10 for the game.

    4/10 for the general populace.

1/10 for a person with 'troll, whiner, fanboy, whiteknight, go back to wow' in their post.

All in all, I'm having fun.

Rating the game on how it is now, ignoring the upcoming updates that will most likely affect my ratings.

    Game mechanics: 9/10
The multiple class system is just too cool, I no longer need to re-roll if I want to try something else, and it motivates me to actually play other classes.

    Progression: 5/10
After your first lv50 it's nothing but fates and leves. It gets boring, fast.

    Graphics and sound: 9/10
    More than excellent.

    Customisation: 2/10
REALLY lacking. Lack of vanity, dye-able items, faces, hairstyles, everything is lacking. All trash armor and weapons look exactly the same.

    End-game content: 5/10
Loads of grinding just to get better gear to do even more grinding for more gear to grind for gear. Just no. Needs PvP!

Average score of the 5 things I find most important in an MMORPG: 6 out of 10

It's enough to keep me subbed!

It's obviously much more polished than 1.0 was, and is a much more complete game. But they gave up being unique and trying new things for copying everything from WoW and then adding back in chocobos.

Everything is a rush to get to the "endgame" which means there's nearly 50 levels full of content no one cares about because it's over with in a week. Then endgame itself is just farming the same dungeons over and over again to get better loot; that's fine for people who are dedicated to the game and have been playing a long time, but when you make it the entire game everyone is going to get bored in short order.

Tons of content, which is actually good, gets completely shafted in this rush to the end as well. The crafting system in this game is amazing, and yet the triple turn-in leves make the whole experience mostly pointless. All the stuff you can make is either outclassed by dungeon drops or requires them in the end. And all the mid-level equipment is barely worth crafting or farming for because people can get to 50 naked.

Gear progression is just sad. Not only are you required to do everything in order to get better stuff, but the stats are the most boring, homogenized crap I've ever seen in a game. Even equipment which was made specifically for one class or job just has more of the same basic stats, nothing unique at all, at any level.

There's nothing to do other than what they've laid out for you to do. The quests lead you by the nose to explore everything, there's nothing actually to do in the open world other than FATEs and hunting logs, and God forbid you want to play with one or two other people instead of soloing or taking exactly 3 or 7 other people into a dungeon.

The game is plagued with poor decisions that lend themselves to people being jerks, and because they just copied everyone else there are no plans that will really fix it. Everyone said duty finder would be a bad idea, and it is. Their plan to incorporate story along with some starting endgame rewards has been disastrous to the community. Having to "farm" coupled with gimmick-based bosses and the duty finder is leading to people expecting everyone to know things by heart before they've even seen it.

Beyond that there are still a ton of things wrong with the way the game is written, which developers won't even acknowledge are problems. 300ms polling leading to mass confusion about AoE dodge mechanics, which are a huge part of the game in general. Global cooldown not allowing the use of instant abilities right after, even though the icons show usable. Absolutely zero regard for the art when it comes to clipping; stardust rod goes right through artifact/relic hat for instance. Again, this is nowhere near as bad as 1.0, but that doesn't make it good.

There's a good game in here somewhere, but it's buried under broken mechanics and gogogogogo post-WoW bullshit.

    - Abysmal responsiveness: Lag and terrible netcode. Endgame is pratically unplayable for me and other people too.
    - Outdated mechanic: Every instance has to be on Duty Finder, including Chimera, Hydra and Bahamuth's Coil. It's 2013, we're not supposed to sit still in one place spamming "LFG!".
    - Levelling: Fate farming is TERRIBLE and it's our only option to level jobs after the first one, due to lack of quests and very low xp on dungeons and levequests.
    - Terrible community: Harassment and insults are out of control.
    - Some QoL stuff that really annoy me (especially the terrible TAB targeting and the chocobo issues).
    - Crafting is pretty cool, but NOT when you have to process tons of raw materials. It takes WAY too much time and effort, and quick synthesis (which is not that quick anyway) is not an option due to really low XP gain and higher chance of failing and waste of materials.

I'll be a bit less whiny than some. I'll start from pros and 10/10 and then start taking points off.
+ I LOVE the setting and the style
    + Engaging story
    + Pretty
    + Fun gameplay mechanics
+ Nostalgia bonus due to FFXI

    Design irritations:
    - The game world feels sort of small due to map size and such fast level progression. Immersion penalty. -0.5
    - The game mechanics could be a lot deeper without really impacting the introductory difficulty. (Weather elemental bonuses, skill chains, support classes etc.) -0.5
This'd make FFXIV ARR be at 9/10.

Current issues that can be fixed:
    - Loopholes in level/gear progression that render a lot of content obsolete. -0.5
    - Biggest RMT/botting problem I've seen up to date. -1
    - Lack of communication with the customer base in billing, botting/hacking reports and action, security issues etc. -1

That would total to 6.5/10 as it stands.

    0.

Been in the PC industry for over a decade.

SE has the worst customer service to date of any of them. (I include Aion/NCSoft in this AND ArenaNet in that comparison)

This includes the RMT issue. Lack of spam control. Complete lack of in-game support and the lag.

Oh, the lag. I'm on a F/O connection, have 3 enterprise racks in the office, play often from work...Yeah, lag is on their end and someone needs a new buffer rack, very very very desperately.

At the end of the day, their lack of CS in //ALL// facets, is destroying the game.

Time to go all in or gtfo. IMO.

+ game is gorgeous. Job/class system leaves alot for future jobs/classes. I don't like alts so having an "all in one" character is nice and I feel invested. Crafting as a seperate class=awesome. Customizable UI good (from the PS3 perspective).

    - latency issues like getting hit by AoEs that I dodged on my screen atleast and abilities not firing off or character not doing animations. Instanced zones take the magnitude out of the world/main cities (I get why they did it). Lack of GM support. RMT gone wild. Community.

    I would say 7/10.

The game is fantastically laid out with the combat and questing system. The instanced dungeons are very well designed and present the challenge of learning new mechanics every time. The armory system allows you to get very attached to one character and feel more immersed while playing as that character. The in game groups (Linkshells and Free Companies) are a nice addition and provide an acceptable way to communicate with your friends. The crafting and gathering classes have a nice place in this game. The can be focused on and not become boring or be a break from combat for DoW/M players. They also present a viable method of obtaining gil in this game.

Some flaws I have noticed are the general lag in the game it is very minute and doesn't affect much, but can be rather annoying at times. Some flaws in planning of the game have produce undesirable effects. (Amdapor Keep being the only viable way to obtain Tomestones of Mythology and other things that escape me at the moment) Some of these things are beginning to poison the wonderful community we began with. People are becoming more focused on speedrunning through the endgame dungeons in order to reach their cap. FATES were a nice idea, but were poorly implemented. The became massive zergfests that have been reduced to AoE spamfests in order to get your gold rank for the fate. Considering this is the primary method of leveling any class after your main class is not a good sign for the classes without AoE attacks. (Lancer, Conjurer, Arcanist, Pugilist until a certain level)

Overall this game is a great game. It provides many things to do up to a point. It is a solid game with the potential, with future patches, to jump up to an 8 or 9/10. I can't wait to see what this game becomes and will be here every step of the way.

    First play through: 8/10
    Leveling a secondary job: 5/10
    End game: 4/10

    Overall: 6/10
End game just destroys the hope I had for this game being something refreshing. It is tolerable however, due to my experience with various mmos.

It could've been a really great game but in my opinion they screwed up in so many ways. Almost zero player interaction since you can't trade equip, everything is solo or people are from other servers. You don't really talk in FATE PTs either and yea..
It doesn't feel like an MMO.
