How do you react to being undercut?

Since there are many player that complains about being undercut and how it ruins the economy, I see it another way where it actually allows the economy to trive and increases the throughput of the market. Maybe some comments/advice from succesful traders could provide some insights to these players on how they deal with undercutters?

I would say to buy up the undercuts and dominate the market with only your product. For example, say there's like 20 (dense) people selling things for 1 gil instead if npcing it. You buy it all up and then add it to whatever amount your selling.

Undercutting is normal so my reaction is like "damn" I just hate when people undercut by 1g. Thats the most annoying thing anyone could do in the market. Its funny when a 1g undercutter gets undercut by 1g lol

If the price is still good and I want to get rid of something I will lower my price.
If the price gets too low I just take my items out and turn them to materia for personal use or give them FC members.

People have to add the shard/crystal cost to their price.

Also, it's quite stupid to sell things for less than a NPC would pay you.

just sell it at the usual price. prices fluctuate - yes some may sell it at an obselcenely low price, but once these get snatched up, buyers have no choice but to buy the ones that are at original prices.

items with severely low prices are anomalies. i dont adjust my prices unless my things still remain unsold after 3 days.

Cool. I personally would snatch up all the underpriced items from the market, and then post them at smaller qty at a higher price to the market, also taking care as not to "flood" the market to create an illusion of scarcity while I still have a few stacks of the same item in my inventory. Also, I'll pull out from markets that are too saturated, and come back later at a time where all the 'cheap' items has cleared.

It depends, a pricedrop is usually tied with the stock on the marketboards.
Unless indeed it's something one person wants to get rid of fast but those are usually snagged quick enough for anyone to notice unless they specifically look for it in the price history.
If I see a lot of stock on the boards I usually hold on to the items for a bit and try to sell them when the supply drops again.

If supply stays at a high point but the items are still worth selling I'll just repost them at the lower price and find another resource in the mean time.
Otherwise I'll just take my losses and npc the whole load.

Depends on the cost and volume of the undercutting. If someone undercuts one or two of an item, I'll usually let my prices sit as they'll sell. If someone floods the market with an item, but only undercuts a hundred (or so) Gil, I'll undercut them by 50 Gil and let the stock sit. If undercut by a few hundred though, I pull my stock from the market board and let it sit in my retainer a few days to see the price goes back up. Although, in many cases, it stays at the undercut price because others see several of one item being flooded on the market and assume it must be selling really really well. It's the end result of people not using the history function or the history function only holding so many documented sales before the oldest disappear from existance.

Sadly, this really isn't going to change until the developers change how price adjustments work, when people can undercut before a sale prices will just continue to crash. It has been a month now and prices still continue to yo-yo about on a weekly basis; silver sharks were actually at an OK level for me on Sunday, now HQs cost less than NQs did and NQs are a pathetic joke... I am getting extremely sick of this...
