    Healing with Controller Vs. Mouse/Keyboard

I have been healing with controller just fine up through Garuda (still gearing up for Coil). I play SCH and do just fine with healing. My question is because placing my fairy and placing AoE fields is simply easier with a mouse, is moving out of the way of AoEs hard at all using keyboard/mouse?

It is extremely easy to just move my thumb to the joystick to move out of the way but I just have this feeling that my fingers would get all confused by hitting skills and then moving to and from the movement buttons. Is that an issue at all for mouse users? Or do you just get used to it?

This is not a controller Vs. mouse for best use. Just wondering what some keyboard users think about movement and hitting skills.

I don't use the mouse at all and am all keyboard. I have my action keys on alphabet my party keys on the number keys above the alphabetical ones and my movement, camera, and menu keys are the right number pad. Its no issue moving out of an aoe and using actions this way, for me. I think this is why I don't use a mouse. Switching over to use a mouse is mentally choppy for me just as you feel navigating movement and action with one keyboard hand. I feel ya!

Oh! Yes when I played Tera my left hand was playing twister trying to move and dodge and everything while positioning and holding keys down to attack. Wore me out! Much prefer this kind of keyboard inverse to a controller. Trying out controller for healing myself but scared I'll slaughter a party. Hands too lazy, memory too bleh to accurately hit the right key order for a spell.

I use a Razer Naga for mmos. The buttons on the side took a little getting used to at first, but now I feel that my gaming has improved as all of my spells are at my thumb.

I have the 1-12 buttons assigned to my hotbar 1 and switch between the hotbars as and when I need to dps. It works really well.

It is not harder to move with mouse/kb over controller...but it takes a little practice. Titan would NOT be a good place to practice this. Ifrit Easy mode however would (for example). As would AK.

Although really, until 24-man content is the in thing, you should be fine healing with game pad if it's what you're use to...

I'm not going to get into the kb+m vs gamepad debate as i think good players can be on both.

I will say this, I played all of 1.0 as a Healer-primary and used gamepad. No one ever complained that I was 'slow' or 'wrong'.

But, this game, healing with a pad annoyed me, esp open-world content like FATES. So I purposefully switched from my old reliable gamepad setup to a gaming kb+mouse setup...I love it. And find it way faster/easier. But that is me. And it DID take practice.

For MMOs I strongly sugest you to buy a razer naga. Your left hand free to just movement and your right hand do the rest.

I use a Razor Orbweaver and a Razor Naga. I effectively use 36 hotkeys and move without ever moving my hands just fingers.

    A controller can't compare

Uh, controllers can switch between two sets of 16 slots (32 slots total) with a press of a bumper (or cycle through all 8 sets for 128 slots.) So yeah, they can.

Yeah, it's no where near as good. Takes too long to switch sets. If you press the modifiers too quickly after you switch sets, it remains on the previous set until you leave go of the modifier and using the combination buttons to change sets is just too slow.

Main problem with healing is the massive increase is target time though.

While you can heal with a controller, it's just not as good as a M&K.

Not saying that the controller set up is not the best I have seen ever for a game like this, but I am not "switching" or "cycling" anything, everything is instantly available. Not to mention the buttons are fully programmable for any keyboard function or combination of keyboard functions mapped to a single key. I handle targeting with my thumb stick just like your D pad, or I can click, or I can use a mapped F-key or I can use mouseover macros.

Any game you ever play you never change the games key mapping, you just create a new profile for the orbweaver and naga making the keys you usually use the games key for it. It really is an amazing combo, everyone I have got to try it has always came back to me telling me how amazing it is.

Playing with a controller especially this game, SE did an exceptional job and it works wonderfully, but the Razer Orbweaver and Naga is 100x more versatile.
