Question about stat allocation

I was told that, while physically possible to put all 30 points into a single stat, that there is a hidden soft cap on the stat (not the stat as a whole, but the stat as far as the 30 points go)

Is there any truth to this and if so, at what point is the soft cap / how can you tell?

No, you're probably reading old outdated 1.0 information.

there is stats cap, but it's only for melding materia and it has nothing to do with your stats allocation

Hmm, I know about the materia cap. So you're saying for people who min/max 30 in to main stat is the best idea?

Well they're tiers for increased amount and such. Like a tier for increased threat for example. In my full darklight armor, I'm 10 str points away from next tier for threat increased, however I put all 30 points into Vit because I prefer more health over more threat since I don't really have problems with threat management.

And I can get the extra str from higher item level gears anyways. Hope this helps. And it has been proven, there was a guide about it. Don't have the link though.
