Issue resolved for me!!!!

I had an error code 401 when trying to pay for the automatic renewal. Tried all cards (AE, VISA, MASTER), and even tried purchasing Crista, but none worked.
Read about the 24 hrs wait time, so I waited and tried again, still not working.
Finally I found a Square Enix customer support ph#858-790-7529 and called. Waited 1.5 hours to speak with an agent, which turns out worth the wait.

He told me that the 24 hrs wait time does not mean banning/suspending the account, and Error code 401 usually happens with the connection problem or internet setting instead of problem with Financial institution. The wording from the customer support message was misleading, we could try again without waiting.

Here are the steps:

1. make sure to use either Internet Explorer or Firefox as internet browser (because he said Google Chrome and Safari cause problems)
2. make sure it is a private network with no blockage
3. make sure there is no anti-virus program
4. go to account.square-enix.com and login
5. purchase Crista with payment method as "UltimatePay"

And voilà, it worked for me.
