Ok Here is the breakdown of how this possibly happened.
RMT has been marked by STF
RMT Source
|
-------------

RMT Mule

-----------------------------------------------

Gil Buyer A

-----------------------------------------------

Gil begins to circulate to normal players
When the STF Decides to remove the RMT gil from the system everyone who has been caught in the RMT food chain winds up getting caught up in the crossfire due to the gil itself probably having been tagged for RMT activity and has to be removed. So characters with large ammounts of RMT tagged gil end up under "Suspicious activity" are investigated found innocent and have any gil tagged as RMT cash removed from their persons as sad as it may be.
Is it the perfect solution? No, but I imagine it's how they roll to remove the most gil from the game with the least ammount of inconvience to the players. (A handfull of gil mongers being caught in the crossfire) instead of the entire economy tumbling out of control.
I dont craft. But it means philo stones convert into better gil amounts. Buying from the vendors would be easier and so would getting a house . Lower prices means gil buyers would just buy more items.
SE is punishing legit crafters for no reason. The items they make do not return to them . The gil buyers still get to wear the gear.

Thanks for all the responses. I really wanna farm dungeons to get more Potash/Coke to sell and other philo items but it just seems like it's asking to be banned. Personally I feel like those are expensive items for the reason that lots of people don't feel like farming for them and that they should cost more. Kinda just wanna secure enough gil to get my house when those come out though so I dunno, market place stuff just seems dangerous from all the things I've been hearing.

Houses are going to be FC only at first, so you won't be paying for it alone. Ideally.
