    First time crafting...

So I've never been a fan of tradeskills or crafting in any of the MMO's I've played over the past 14 years; it just never appealed to me.

How I got started: Out of nowhere, I was getting constant 90000 disconnection errors and I didn't want to be in a dungeon with that going on. I didn't want to burden others with DC issues, so I decided to dip into crafting because I've been hearing people talk about it.

This is the first time I've ever given crafting a chance. What the hell? Why am I so addicted? I kept telling myself "okay one more level and let's stop for now..." but I ended up going to Armorer Lv25 on my first day (spent most of Sunday on it).

I'm not sure what it is. Feels kinda like a mini-game. It's just... fun! Also, I developed a rotation with my abilities like I do for combat classes.

Double thumbs up to the team that came up with this crafting system!

Crafting was the only thing I enjoyed in 1.0 ^^
Sadly I got bored doing the gathering and combat I needed to do to support it, but it was nice starting out in 2.0 with a DoH class leveled.
Now if I just knew how all these skills worked...

I haven't even gotten to the point of crossing skills over from other DoH classes yet. I can't wait

PS. The juicy experience bonus from turning in a HQ item for your tradecraft leves = yumm!!

I enjoy crafting a lot in this game too. I usually have my bags full of various items, and I always enjoy finding out what they craft into.

I did strangely enjoy the 1.0 crafting, when you had to craft a piece of armor and it required so many different parts to complete (shoulders, sleeves, etc). I thought if they kept the complexity of this system, with a faster ui and process I really would have enjoyed it. Although not sure it would please many others.

Perhaps the most frustrating part of the original crafting system was that many items required component parts that had to be made by a *higher-level* crafter, leaving most of us wondering, "How do we get there from here?" Not to mention that almost nothing could be made without parts from other crafts. Because *nothing* was available from vendors. And finding anything in the "market system" of the time was impossible. People's retainers were spread out in a special area. You had to look at them one by one. Wanted a specific item? Had to keep looking at retainers until you found it. No search function...

    bwhahahahahah good ol' 1.0

Actually when it was first out, there wasn't even any market wards, they came later, and what a mess those were...

SE trolled us hard on that one

Still wish I could have a bazaar, though, that **** is the bomb.

While I enjoyed the component system, I totally agree that needing a higher level item from a different class was frustrating. There are a lot of other issues you mention, which obviously made things difficult.

(edit - quotting Conradus. Forgot to do this in the original)

I've been having a great time leveling gatherer and crafter classes. The time it takes to consistantly create HQ stuff is a nice mini game challenge. I like keeping my crafters several levels above my battle classes so they always have fresh HQ gear waiting for them when they get there : D

I like the feeling of making my own armor and supplies but I am still learning how the crafting system works too. Love it so far!
