I have done a lot of reading in this forum in the past month as I have been plagued with the infamous lag that a large part of the community has been experiencing. I have spent hours on the phone with many reps at my ISP with no real progress on the issue. I am coming to the conclusion (as many others are starting to as well), that routing might be a large contribution to my problem, and so I want to try to tackle that and see if it resolves my issue.
So my question is:
How does one go about fixing the routing while on a PS3? I figure I need traceroute info compiled for my ISP to know where the problems are, and where to reroute.
One thing is certain when it comes to talking with your ISP; You need to know more than the rep you are talking with, or at least know where to direct them, or you will just get streamlined into the generic, dismissive responses they are trained to give you, to get you off the phone so they can meet their quota of resolved cs/ts calls for the day.
I like to say that I am tech savvy (more so than the average bear), but I am not by any means equipped with the knowledge needed to resolve this issue on my own. That is why I have to do a lot of reading, and hope that maybe someone can help me, or at least give me a script to read to the tech rep so I can safely get to a resolution, lol.
It is very frustrating that I feel like I need to go to networking school to play a game properly. While what I have learned in trying to figure this out is great knowledge to have. In the end, I'm just a guy who wants to play a video game.
Given that I feel I know more and grasp technical issues better than the average Joe without real training, I can't imagine what this would be like for a true-blue home consumer that doesn't have the time, or interest, or intelligence, to know wtf is going on. It is a shame. Please help meh!..
